I have interim BP increase during a cycle. Sometimes 150/85; 8 years ago I started a thread at Metamorphosis and asked what BP medication most people used (something available from a sponsor) and they gave me the type (brand) that had the least sides and the one most everyone used.

Can you name a general type, brand, or drug that is most easily tolerated and that you would recommend?

Yes, I drink lots of water, eat clean, use salt substitute, drink coffee, and watermelon. I understand the difference between diuretics and beta blockers, and etc. 8 years ago everybody was using a generic type that was generally acknowledged to have no side effects when used for cycles.

calcium/magnesium and taurine have a great effect on bp
mine is controlled with diet(low carb) and the above sups. Before the diet and sups I was 170/100. Now I average between 125-135/65-75

Lisinopril - ACE inhibitor
Toprol XL - beta blocker

Both were easily tolerable, the beta blocker did greatly reduce aggressive feelings, which is good for my relationships, not so great for being a monster in the gym

Lisinopril gave a brief dry cough as the body became acclimated to it, but is didn't even rise to the level of being aggravating. Plus its dirt cheap.

I use inderal at 5-10mg a bedtime depending on where my bp is at. I'll shoot you a pm either today or tomorrow with more info.

Go see your doctor bro, he is the expert....I wouldn't buy that kind of thng from a sponser and self administer. That's just me....if you do be careful.

Atenenol, Lopressor.

Its hard to say what is better from words of your doctor or board sponsors.

Big pharma gives kicks back or special treatment to docs who write up "x" more often than others.

Drugs.com offer a user feedback system by users which can give you a good amount of info.

Wow this is scary we have a lot of doctors on the board. You need to see a doctor who will put you on bp meds which he feels will work for you, but he will also monitor you for side effects. When I came down with hypertension my doctor went thru about 3/4 meds before finding the one that gave me no sides and lowered my bp.

BP meds can be tricky. The reason its suggested mainly to see a Dr. is because most experienced doctors are going to use a trial & error approach, subscribing some and asking you to come in on it for a check up.

Their are many classes of meds that control BP, some work perfect on certain people and not at all on others. It's fairly cheap to get a home tester, buy an electronic one so you don't throw off the results by pumping with your hand. Test the best of 3 and create an avg to get an accurate figure.

You would be surprised how easy even while on AAS it is to control BP without meds by just being meticulous with diet, cardio, supplementation, and mind set. Meditation even can be enough to lower it, if its induced from anxiety or shallow breathing.

As far as supplements, I will use Fish oil, Arginine, Garlic tabs, and Hawthornberry. Staying low on Sodium & carbs, with lots of h20 also won't hurt.

My dr has me on micardis with a diuretic but it only got me down to 145/75 or so and he seems ok with that... Toporol caused too much weight gain so we stopped it.
