I got my blood done for the year and my potassium levels are elevated
To a 5.4 range is 3.5-5.1 ..

Any tips on lowering it besides taking my multivitamin down .. This was besides my cholestorol the only things out of whack
Thanks for the replies

Lasix...only tip you need.

My potassium is always on the high side. If i eat to many bananas it goes over.

So a diruretic helps with this?

Lasix or any other Loop-diuretic will pull K+ out of your body. So much so, most people who are one it have to supplement with Potassium. Easy and cheap. Just can't go crazy with it, though.

First of all, no matter how many bananas you eat, your body regulate your potassium .

Second, don't fuck with diuretics.

Third, get to a doctor to find out why your potassium is high.

It could be many things, one of the kidney issues.

Keep a close eye on it.

Smart man ...So I was looking at my supplement regiment and it turns out all the kidney support pills are basicly different forms of potassium ....SO I cut the kidney support pills and in 3 weeks getting my blood drawn again to make sure that was the culprit .....I think in my quest to stay healthy I might of been over supplementing

Well...according to BigNJ, it doesn't matter how much potassium you ingest, your body will regulate it. :banghead:

ANY electrolyte can be in excess or deficit if too much or too little is consumed. Calcium being the most difficult to get out of range due to the exceptional regulatory mechanism of the parathyroid, bones, kidneys and intestines.

I do agree that you need to talk to the MD, but the two most common things to do in the medical arena for hyperkalemia is lasix and insulin. With insulin being the "quick fix" for cases that need to be brought down, quick.

If you are running gear (and if you weren't, then you wouldn't be here) then your kidneys are probably being taxed. Your hyperkalemia is probably from that.
