Blood test high

I have been off a cycle now for a month and a half and had some tests done and my Hemotologist told me that my body was making to many red blood cells. He says the normal range is between 12 and 17 but mine was 19 1/2. He wouldn't go into it but it sounds like it was high because I was just ion a cycle. Has anyone run into road blocks like this with there doctors? Isn't it true that this goes back to normal over time off your cycle?

My hemoglobin and hematocrit are always borderline high .i donate blood every 2 months and I keep it in the normal range .im guessing yours would eventually go back to normal but I would go donate and get it back into normal range

Having it too high you are running a big risk of having a blood clot. Usually they form in a limb like your legs and then they can break lose and travel to your lungs where it is called a pulmonary embolism. Once in the lungs it will block blood flow there and you could die. That very thing has happened to some members here. I think Emeric had it happen, he has factor 5.

I had a bad blood clot too which caused a near fatal heart attack. I now go to the hematologist about once every 2-3 months for a phlebotomy. I would advise you to try to get one, and if the doctor doesn't want to you can donate blood. I would think the doc would do one for you, that is quite high.

My hematologist wants my hemoglobin at no more than 15. It creeps up to 16 1/2 tops and then I have another blood letting to get it back down again.

Yes, it really snowballs. Once it get up to 19 or so it is going to take more than one phlebotomy to get it back down.

Donate and stay on HRT dosage 80-100 mg weekly until normal.

I take it out myself my HB and hct rises to fast the redcross won't take it if it's to high.
