Blood work of a pro

To me if a liver is compromised it is common sense to restrict as many things as possible that keeps it working overtime. To follow a well balanced healthy diet but small amounts and to stay hydrated. But I genuienly do think most of these doctors are behind the times. But what do I know... he is the liver specialist getting paid a fortune for it so I would listen to him. Shelby sorry for derailing the thread.

So my liver biopsy did show 'drug induced' liver damage, but that would have been evident from any amount of gear usage. The main issue was the my common bile duct had constricted causing the bilirubin to overflow back into the liver.

BTW, gall bladder issues are a much more common cause to jaundice than gear usage.

We will see what happens in a month or two after they take out the stint in my duct.


Basically I just thought my liver was safe taking all of the supplements touted as liver aids, yet right now when I am trying to heal from my liver damage the doctors tell me not to take any, even when I explicitly asked to take NAC and TUDCA, and even glutathione.

Are they just behind the times? (...The main liver doctor that gives speeches around the country)

At 38 years young I just got back the best blood labs I've ever seen since I've been checking them (which goes back to about 2001). I'm very pleased with this.
Very low C-reactive protein which is an inflammation marker (0.16), good liver and kidney values, the highest HDL I've personally ever had (and mine is naturally low), very good cholesterol, LDL and triglyceride numbers.
This past year I spent the full offseason at HRT doses, then precontest kept my supplement total at under 1,000mg, and still managed to place my best ever (4th at the Chicago 212).

Seriously, re-read what he just posted. His 38, a pro, doesn't have the best genetics, and still kicking ass and staying very healthy. Fucking BOSS!

Is it so obvious that you didn't feel the need to list it, or don't you actually take vit C? No digestive enzymes or pro/prebiotics either?

In any cases, I'm on the same page as B-Boy when it comes to you: one of the very few voices I listen to in this sport when they speak. :)

Just the little bit of Vitamin C I get in my multi, I don't take any supplemental C other than that. One time my iron got TOO low (from donating every 8 weeks) so to help correct it (other than donating less frequently) I added 500mg vitamin C to any iron containing meals to help increase absorption.

I have never taken digestive enzymes before but was having some digestive issues the last couple weeks so just started taking Digest Gold. So far I like it a lot.

u still friends with chuck lyons? i havent seen him since he left for another gym.

Training is pretty much the same year round, I don't really let up at all.
I haven't heard from Chuck in a bit.

I usually sleep 7 hours a night and get 1 or 2 naps in during the day (could be anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour).
 
Also had an echocardiogram done a couple weeks back and all was good.
Had a vascular screening done yesterday, waiting on results of that.
Blood pressure was 100/66 yesterday at the hospital (for the screening).

A little late here but do you know what your ejection fraction % came back as?
 
Ive used 3 brands of TUDCA: Olympus Labs, Premium Powders, and Antaeus Labs Aegis. Bloodwork on the Antaeus labs was perfect, but I did not get it on the other two brands. Subjectively I could tell the Premium Powders brand was off, so I switched to Olympus Labs to find a more economically viable option.


Well shit. TUDCA is the one main liver supplement I haven't tried over the years. I got blood work a month ago and decided to give it a shot. I was decided between two brands and the amazon reviews were slightly better for Premium Powders so that's what I got and have been taking for the last week.

shelby, what do you attribute this personal best ever blood work to? Have you changed anything specifically in diet? Recently added any supps that you listed? Lowered doses of other super supps? More cardio? Great work and even more kudos for maintaining your health while at it! There is a long list of big strong, unhealthy people

he basically answered all of these questions already..


-he listed his supplement use and dosages already
-he described his aas and gh usage
-he regularly posts his diet on his FB page
-he has spoken about his genetic predispositions (lower HDL, but also lower BP).
