Bob Paris best conditioning ever?

He wrote a pretty good book, "Gorilla Suit". His honesty about pro BBing was very insightful.
Bob was the CBum of the late 80's-mid 90's IMO. Unfortunately Classic Physique wasn't around then.
Likewise, Bob Birdsong was the Bob Paris throughout the 70's.

Do you remember in the book, a very good book btw, him mentioning that at end of his career he dabbled with gh? He he had a photo to prove it. Changed his look imo.

Bob Birdsong. The first bodybuilder I saw in my life. Then Arnold walked in the back door and I quickly forgot about Bob.

Also saw Bob win the Mr. Universe in LA. And he got it taken away that same night.

Yea, can see the still in the video. Never seen him that lean. Looks great.

Something still does not feel right.

Still contend that the video was manipulated, my word is ‘sharpened’. And it was extremely well lit, very rare now but helps tremendously. The entire video is like that, all the competitors have the same look.

Reminds me of that video that is often talked about here, referenced here as being the best contest lighting and why can’t all the bb contests have this good lighting. (That I can’t answer.) But do suspect, do not know, that it too was manipulated to give more contrast.

Does not take anything away from Bob in perhaps his best condition ever.

I was going to say that he would kill in todays Classic Physique Division but at 6 feet tall, the stupid ass weight cap not allow him to go over 227lbs and his usual stage weight I believe was 240lbs.

Unless he was able to add an inch of height by pulling some spine lengthening shenanigans like Bumstead does, then he could come in at 234lbs if he was 6ft 1 inch.

They need to get rid of that stupid ass weight cap. I could see a cap on total weight but a different cap for every inch of height is ass.

Upscaled is the term I always hear. It makes the footage look like drawings.

In Photoshop they, I, call it sharpening. I used to use it (occasionally) but soon grew bored of the look. It makes the image look mechanical IMO. Adds contrast in a way I am unable to duplicate.

Snapseed, an ‘ap’, is one I use when I convert member photos here. It too has several different tools that add that same look. I can make you look better (subjective) than you really are.

Bob Paris had that great physic and symmetry was on point to say the least. I think under 225lbs on stage? Dam cool physic.

Well, Bodybuilding is all about creating the perfect Illusion on Stage, I see Photoshop and filters just as another layer of presenting a certain look (in that case, for online content, e.g. Instagram).

Just some philosophical pondering: The guys on stage don't look like that year round either - so does it not count either? It is a fleeting short timeframe where they look their absolute best. A few months in the deep off-season after the show, they certainly don't look the same. Is posting your stage shots really that different than using some filters and whatnot on Instagram? (Open Question - I look like shit with filters or not, so I can't answer that lol)
