Nebivolol has pretty much been known as a bodybuilding ancillary drug for nearly a decade despite it being rarely prescribed by cardiologists unless the patient really insists. It is popular obviously because of its ability to lower blood pressure and heart rate, but also because it doesn’t have the same side effects of other beta blockers, like insulin resistance or reduced aerobic capacity. Here is a new study in a top-tier journal showing improved outcomes compared to other beta blockers, which was unsurprising to me given it’s nitric oxide boosting effects, but we haven’t had good data comparing them until now.
Bodybuilders were once again ahead of the curb on this one.
