BOXING TRAINING

I want to incorporate a boxing routine for the youth baseball players I train (hand/eye coordination). I was wondering what a decent pair of gloves and training mitts to purchase. These kids are all around 12-13 years old but I want to incorporate into my adults training as well. What is a good weight to get etc... Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. Peace

sounds risky to have 12-13year old kids boxing each other especially for baseball practice. dude you will have parents freaking out. i will admit though i would have loved that as a kid. tank...

Another option

Boxing is just gonna givem black eyes, and at that age, it will cause fights and potentially damage their hands (not good for baseball) and also could tear the team apart...

Here is what I would suggest, this is somehting the pros do and many trainers swear by this...

Get a bucket of golf balls, write different numbers 3-4 places on the ball with a black permanent marker....

Then pitch them underhanded, having them hit the balls into a padded wall so they just drop, (like whiffle) and have them shout out the numbers as they swing...this DOES work, and they WILL improve.

Believe it or not, but video games DO bolster hand/eye coordination, and pretty well at that.

No NO

I'm not talking about them boxing eachother. I'm talking about me holding target mitts and them hitting them for hand/eye coordination

have baseballs with a different letter written on each one and while they throw and catch the ball shout out the letter as they catch it...

That is how we trained our softball team in the olympics last time and look how well they did....just make sure they catch the ball and not stare at it as it comes at them..

Boxing is a great form of training and no need toget into a ring..the bag and speedbag are plenty enough to get the job done..good luck
