Anthony was an amazing man and his childhood and upbringing answers many questions regarding his drive and spirit. If ya new him as i know ya did you know what I mean. I was devastated.
Yes, I know what you mean. I also know AC's father and knew his mother before she died. I trained with both of his brothers. Even remember AC when he played football at Dobie HS in Pasadena, Texas. This was an amazingly gifted man who fought, hard battles within himself dealing with his past. Me and another very close friend of his talked to him all the time about getting himself in better shape and dropping down to the 220's. He told me that the world knew him the way he was and he could not accept being any other way. Pretty sad, because big AC "the world's strongest man" as he thought the world saw him, was what eventually took his life from him. He already has a pacemaker and was on several medication for CHD. Still he tried to make a come back and keep the AC image going strong. I don't think he ever understood that the AC that was really important was the kind, giving one that so many got to know, not the big, strong, giant. The man who worked with under privileged kids, and preached at any church who would give him the time.
