Bringing Up Legs w/ Bad Knee?

Establish all movements (and rom's) that don't cause knee pain and basically abuse yourself with those. Heavy weight and high reps when possible. I would also recommend taking time warming up all parts of your leg (and knees) before any harder sets. Work on mobility and also try to keep knee inflammation down as much as possible.

I would guess that the strong leg then is usually doing most of the work and carrying the load then. As I can usually find a different foot placement angle of bend that is more comfortable.

It's weird. The amount of pain on unilateral exercises is exponential though... I think it has to do with form a lot more. Foot placement and angle is something I try to pay attention to.

as a rule, if it physically hurts as in not just tiredness pain, don't do it. any potential gains are just not worth the damage

In recent times, I’ve blitzed my legs with extensions first. High rep sets, drop sets, alternating 1leg extensions for 4 sets non stop.

This has enabled my legs to be fully warm and severely fatigued by the time I reach compound exercises.

Might not be as effective as pushing mega weight on first exercise as a compound but years of training has forced me to work around old knees

I've actually been trying this on and off for years. Depending on the day I will or will not be able to fatigue my quads with the shitty extension machine we have.

John Meadows once mentioned warming up hams before squatting helps too. I definitely agree it has helped me

oh snap, dont know why i figured you were older!?

you can still make improvements i bet. i have partially torn distal bicep tear, pinched nerve in right shoulder that reduced strength by prob 20% in my right tricep, delt and pec, some kind of injury to my left lat, 2 seperated shoulders.... anyway, what i am getting at is i have had to adapt training to my injuries and have learned few things
-play with ranges of motion. you dont HAVE to do full range to get benefits. have you seen jason huh train:eek: there could be certain range of motion that doesnt hurt your knee
-obviously select exercises that stimulate it most with least amount of pain

remember, have FUN! you prob wont be a pro bb'er so dont obsess on it too much. :)
