broken bones

Ok...Sunday morning I woke up and got out of bed to walk my dogs. I made my way down the stairs...about 2/3rds of the way down my foot slipped and I fell down the stairs. When I tried to get up I noticed my right foot was completely out of socket facing to the side and my leg was facing straight. Needless to say it was very painful.

To make a long story short...I had an ambulance bring me to the hospital where they twisted my foot back into socket (that was intense pain) then I had an orthopedic dr operate on my right ankle (which I had broken 3 bones in). I ended up with 3 screws and a plate...

Now I'm sitting here at my laptop not able to do anything except lay in bed and go from one room to another on my crutches. It sucks...I can't work out, I can't drive, I can't work....very depressing shit.......The doc says perhaps in 6 weeks I may be able to start walking on it....we'll see..

So anybody ever get and injury where you were bedridden for a while? How did you get through it?

Hell yeah...
Had a major break about 7 months ago, my ankle and surrounds, broke both bones, the piece that completes the socket and as a result, the entire foot came out of place and planed each side, tearing all tendons and tissue. The only thing holding my foot in place was the skin...(and who said paragliding wasn't fun?)
9 screws and a plate.

The doctor said 2 months then I had to be reoperated to remove 1 screw that was holding the foot to the socket. Then it would take another 4 months to be able to walk properly (2.5 months crutches, remainder with cane), then about a year to have full function (but that i'll never have it like before).

Well horse shit, don't believe what your doctor told you, cause if you do, uve just told your subconscoius mind (part that regulates hormones, healing, heartbeat etc) to do it in that time.

I'm a qualified IMDHA hypnotherapist and used my reprogramming to speed up recovery. And it worked, 1.5 month later I got the 1 screw removed, 3 days later (i kid you not), i chucked out my crutches and started awkwardly limping around, 2 weeks later i had a slight limp. another 1 week and I was walking like normal but not able to lift my bodyweight or absorb a jump.3 weeks later, no problem except my flexibility was much less. Now 7 months in, im just as, if not more flexible than my other foot (I used to do latin dancing, so its very flexible) and I can calve press twice my body weight with that 1 calve!

It never gets sore, n doesn't feel any different from my other ankle other than the skin wher the scar is.

So what the doctor said would take 1 year, 6 months; I did in just under 7 months.
And it's all because when he told me that, i thought "bull sh*t, you not telling me how long I must take and what the result will be".

Just keep your mind positive and take your supplements.

Spend your time learning something new, like how your mind works (it will also help your greatly in bodybuilding). Also, see a physiotherapist n work on what they tell you all the time...

Goodluck, and enjoy the showering (that was always a b*tch for me with a cast) :)

sorry about that bro. i have a couple threads about my wife falling down the stairs in october abd breaking her legg. she has 2 plates, and 16 screws in her left legg. when i found her she was passed out and her legg was pointing backwards with the bone sticking out. be careful cause after that while leaning on me going down the stairs again she heard a pop in her right shoulder and ended up tearing her rotory cuff. she had it fixx about 8 weks ago. its slow progress. hopefull she will return to work in july. the bordoom is the worst she says. and now she sleeps during the day and stays awake all nite which is bad for me. but i luv her so i put up with it all and try to entertain her when i am off.
good luck.

Thanks for your replies. Could somebody tell me what supplements would be good to take in my case?

Yo feel, thats bad, sorry to hear that...
But im sure with your support n love, she'll b healed in no time..

Supplements to take- A multivitamin, Glutamine, lots of water, calcium, and feel free to add to that as it can only help (use common sense tho, Ephedrine etc wont help you at all and may even slow down recovery).

Good luck

i broke my skull in 9 places, took me over a year to get through that
