Buying used equipment in USA for shipping abroad

Hey folks.

I live in a big city in Japan but will be moving to the boondocks here next year.

There are no gyms nearby so I'll have to build my home gym.

Gym equipment here for the most part is highway robbery (I was just quoted $10,000USD for a smith machine--not a typo) so I'd like to buy as much as possible from the states and ship by boat.

Can anyone recommend any sites/companies that deal with used equipment sales? I'd prefer sites that have experience shipping abroad.

BTW, I know that deals can be found on Ebay and Craigslist but since I want this all to come as one shipment, I rather order from one place.

Google "used gym equipment" and you will see multiple compaines that buy and sell commercial gym equipment like you are asking for.

I assume your looking purely for the USA

I would look at elite fts and pendlay.

Both quality and both I assume would ship over. You could try and contact a shipping company to see what a container slow shipped would cost you

Thanks but I'm going to have to pass on the elliptical (though would like to have one). The home gym will be at my grandmother-in-law's house that's a 30 minute bicycle ride from where we will be living so cardio is already taken care of.

BTW, has anyone ever used usedgymequipment.com? They have a pretty big selection too.

I'm basically *initially* looking to buy:

Smith, Power Rack, 45degree leg press, pec-deck, a multi-station, DB's up to 80kg (or a powerblock), incline bench, barbell, plates, and any other necessary accessory I may have left out.

To tell you have insane prices are here even for used equipment, I was quoted at about $30K USD to get all this in Japan.
