Anyone do this exercise. I use to do them along time ago and they really widen and blew up my back. I was going to try then again. They don't hurt my shoulders as much as regular pullups.

Is that Waldo in this pic? Its the only one I could find of the exercise.

Yes I used to do those. People call them rack chins, I know it is a exercise used in many peoples DC routines. I usually do regular pullups over these, but for the guys who do rack chins, do you think it is a better back building exercise than pullups?
 
with a 150lb fixed barbell in your lap for 22 rest paused reps yes

i sometimes do these as "inverted pushups" where you keep your whole body straight (no bend at the hips) and pull to your chest like a barbell row.

on either variation you can have a training parter hold your feet instead of proping them on a bench. as you do the set, the partner can adjust position to change the angle or resistance

this might be a movement where you could go westside and drape chains across the lap maybe?

Inoverdrive...its in the DVD, I highly recommend it. You will learn a good amount and Franco is a FUNNY bastard.
 
I actually ordered it last week. I have not been home yet (still workin). Hopefully it will be there when i get home Sunday!!

Yep Franco and Jason show these in the workout. Woops already got your response. Jason just moved and has been busy so it might be a little longer than expected with the DVD.
 
That 150 barbell is pretty close to the minerals. I think I'll just attach extra plates to the wide cable pull-down.
I seem to rock too much when doing regular pull ups.

Also, try lowering the smith bar and get on your back and do wide grip chin ups.
I had a wrestling coach show me that and I liked it.
