HBP, doctor is putting me on BP meds. Particularly Amlodipine @ 10mg daily. Was wondering if anyone has ever used this BP med and how did they make out on it? And any sides? Went to primary today and usually I am about 140-150/90. Today it was about 150/116. No clue what made it spike. But that is the reason why he is suggesting BP meds. Any personal usage info would be greatly appreciated. I have read online a number of folks who liked it or hated it.

There are many types of medication that will help to reduce BP.

There was a meta-analysis from 2014 that showed that using CCBs to initially lower BP might lead to fewer cases of stroke and myocardial infarction.

I take an ARB, but my BP has never been as high as yours.

I take amlodipine in combination with telmisartan. No negative side effects to report. Maybe a bit of drowsiness initially. But I feel toooons better with my blood pressure at a lower number

There's a variety of things that can make it spike. I'm on 50mg of Caarvedilol twice a day and 20mg of lisinopril a day. If I go to the doctor first thing in the morning, my blood pressure looks great. Go in the middle of the day, and coming from work it's always higher. Pain can cause it to be higher, etc. All depends.

I't works for me like nothing else can. No down sides.

Anyone have any issues in the bedroom dept while on BP meds?

I’d look into Nebivolol. My BP was around 140/90 with HR 110 on Monday. Tuesday I took 2.5mg Nebivolol in the morning, 2.5 at night and 2.5mg the next morning(yesterday) took BP again around the same time. 135/80 HR 90

That’s a huge difference with just one day using it.

None but then I take a small dose of Cialis 10mg/day before bed (for my prostate). My BP right out of bed this am was 125/74, HR 74.

My BP was 195/110 about 9 years ago, got BP down and Dr has me now on 2.5 Amlodipine and 10 mgs Quinapril and things are good now.

I took an ARB(avapro) for 4 years and it kept my BP normal. Then I went into a walk-in clinic to get a re-fill pres. and the nurse practioner said I would have to have blood work done to see how my kidney function was. It came back ok but my potassium level was 1 point above lab corps range. So she would not renew my script. Instead put me on a calcium channel blocker. In 2 days , I had an alergic reation to it . I was sick and my BP skied to 170 over 95. It has never been that high. I called back but she would not talk to me. I had to come in for another "appointment". I went elsewhere.
I also looked up on a BP forum and all the complaints were about calcium channel blockers.
