Calf training

I've detailed this before so forgive the redundancy.

I incline walk. That's it. I noticed that my calves grew during a prep where I was doing 2 hours of cardio a day and eating nothing. How? Walking uphill. Not fast. Not hard. Just lots of uphill steps. It was a novel stimuli.

I compare it to people who are heavy. All day long, these people are essentially doing sub-maximal calf volume.
It's true. There's probably no 360-pound fat person in the world who has weak and small calves. I mean, they might look bad due to their shape (genetics), but they won't be small. In such obese people, the calves are forced to grow so that they can even go to the store for doughnuts; it's simply a body adaptation.

Calves are one of my best body parts, used to be one of my weakest. I only do standing calf raises. Starting out light around 30 reps and adding weight as the sets progress but keeping the reps as high as I can. I do around 8-10 sets 1-2x week. I rarely go below 10-12 reps but I keep the weight heavy. Seated calf raises started causing me to have sore Achilles so I just stopped doing them. My keys points are being consistent with training them, keep the reps higher but with the heaviest weight u can handle. Stretch, pose and flex them every single day.

I found that calf raises got my calves strong but did fuck all for size.

However when I got into tabbing (walking at a decent pace, up and down mountains, with a heavy sack on my back) they exploded and doubled in size.

Similarly when I got into strongman and started doing farmers walks, yokes etc I got another burst of size.

As you can see they're a reasonable size.

So yeah, I'd consider moving with weight to grow them

I train them three days a week after cardio. My gym has 4 different calve machines so I do the rounds.

2x/week. 6-8 sets per session. Standing, donkey, and seated leg press. Donkey calve raises feel like a humiliation ritual but you gotta do what you gotta do. I don’t have naturally big calves but they definitely respond to training.

Higher frequency shrinks my calves. They also shrink when I’m in an endurance block of training.

I know two booger hog lard asses that have chicken calves lol they don’t grow eating entire pizzas rollled up like a burrito sitting on your fat ass. Most fat people have shapeless calves fat cankles and zero definition. Facts

Reps per set?
