cals in foods, and MY DIET..input please

i was looking around on the internet trying to find cal. on certain foods. it seems that most charts vary a whole lot. some are saying up to 10g protein for a whole egg and 8g protein for a white. some say 7 for whole, etc.

maybe you guys can help with afew foods

apples, says 70cal
8oz lean steak-450cal
2oz ham-160cal

These are just some foods that dont ahve lables so im just guessing but you can only get so close i guess. how do you guys do it?

Thanks,

Todd

not that i know the answers but consider this..

everyone posting these things on the internet could have a possible motive for "adjusting" calorie counts.. or they could be stupid... you never know..

have you tried looking up someplace that would have a low probability of being wrong and yet no real vested interest in skewing the results...maybe some kind of independant lab or govt agency(there might be a high % of stupidity with this)...

truthfully, i never thought of that, but its definetly not out of the question. what i decided to do was just get a few results and just get the average number between them. im not dieting for a show or anything so a few cals wont be the end of the world.

also i just kind of put together my diet in a spreadsheet and realized im probably not eating enough cals, but im doing good with my appetite not getting too hungry. also remember this is just a diet to get to about 9%, im not getting in show condition otherwise some food selections would be different.

7am
2 whole eggs, 4 whites, 2 slice ham
protein 60g
fat 12g
total= 268

9am
shake
apple
protein 50g
carbs-15g
total= 260

12pm
2 cans tuna, apple
protein 60g
fat 6g
carbs 15g
total=316

3pm
4oz. turkey
2 slices bread
1 fat free yogurt
protein 30g
fat 4g
carbs 34g

5:30pm
1/2 cup oatmeal
protein shake
protein 50g
carbs 30g
total=320

8pm
8oz. sirloin steak
1 can green beans
protein 50
fat 15
carbs 15
total=395

i think my totals are 300g protein, 35g fat, 95g carbs total of almost 1800cals. in 2 weeks i have definetly noticed fat loss and appetite has been under control MOST of the time..lol

please input on what i might change.

Thanks,
Todd

Thanks for the website, I was wondering how much calories, carbs, and protein was in a banana. I used to have this big sheet that had about every food on it and listed all of that good stuff but I can't find it. Thanks again bro. Later, bigwil

Got Juice, your diet looks ok. Here is what I would change. With your breakfast you're probably no where near 60g protien unless those ham slices are big. I would put in at least 6 more whites. The next two meals (9am and 12 pm) eat a tablespoon or two of natural peanut butter with. Also mix in a tablespoon of flax seed oil in each of your protein shakes. Then just be sure to take in some simple sugars with your post workout meal and your set. Hope that helps bro.
