Calves discussion

lol bro, i'll even point out guys to my wife .."babe, look at his calves, damn!!" One day I will get a good set of them lol

That is hilarious! After I got with my wife and after she listened to me talk about calves forever...she now points out big / small ones to me all the time!
 
It all comes down to muscle insertions. If you have a long skinny calf it will grow, if you have a short skinny calf it's not going to grow nearly as much if at all.
 
ive been asking my girlfriend to deep tissue massage them, along with higher reps , to moderate reps, making them burn so bad and so sore for days. Then putting the tens unit on them

a week or so ago, mine measured at an all time 18 inches, which theyve never measured that big before so, whether they were temporally inflamed or stay like that and continue to grow well see

btw ive been training calves every week since 2002, sometimes twice a week for a few years years as well, trying new stuff. Been walking a lot too doing cardio at about 250, seems like since I started this
one weel high rep burn em out only, rest paused going to one hundred with weight i can do a full contraction and stretch , drop sets continually
week two, moderate weight with higher reps (a mix)
week three keeping the weight heavy- like 800 calve raises, and 315-405 donkey calves (yes ive done donkey calves a long time, even got mad at a friend onetime bc he wouldnt get on my back so I found a way to just do them on the smyth machine since gym doesnt have a donkey calve machine, been doing this for years [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMn_E7Q_dLQ"]Donkey Calf Raise on a Smith Machine - YouTube[/ame] )

i also do my donkey calve raises and seated calve riases barefooted a lot, I feel it works my calves better and get a better stretch and higher up on toe

My theory behind it... Look at very overweight people, they generally all have very large calves. Now I'm sure these people aren't doing calf stretches at home or anything for that matter. Just pounding volume from walking around carrying all that weight day in day out. So in theory surely volume is the key with calves... When I had a very brief stint working with Hany Rambod before tearing my tricep a few years back his recommendation was 3x50 on seated, standing and leg press.

But like someone already said, its probably mainly genetics, my calves were 18 inches with no training.

My theory is that there is an inverse correlation between calf size and penis size... Look, Blacks for the most part, have high, small calves, yet, they're well endowed (for the most part) there was a kid who went to school with me who was 6'-0" as an 8th grader, 210lbs, mike Tyson build, huge calves, yet hung like a hamster... (all of the girls used to tease him about it)

Asian guys? huge calves, ever notice? I have tiny calves, but I'm hung like a rhino... Soo... I have a solution, the solution to everything is Caverject and igf-1... I've noticed all of the guys in these PE logs who shoot caverject and igf-1 into their wieners in hopes of making it grow... So now I shoot caverject and igf-1 into my calves, to see if they grow...


So far, I'm up two inches in a little over a month (not kidding here) I also train them EVERY workout... I also started site injecting everything into them... I tried the synthol, but that's just way too much oil for me and too many shots... one shot of whatever I take in every head pre-workout... I train calves last, after abs every workout... I run to the locker room, shoot the caverject and igf into the calves, then hit them... they are growing, still small, but I went from 14" to just under 16" and i'm currently dieting hard... they'd probably grow more if I was gaining... but in either event, I'm very satisfied with this new growth... on synthol, they only got up to 15" and once I started dieting, they shrunk right back down to 14", so all of that pain and those shots, were for nothing...

What do you guys think of rocking style calves on the smith machine ?
 
I've gotten great results from both high volume and high intensity training for calves. I've also gotten great results from plyometric training. (Anyone remember JumpSoles?)

I'm not convinced that "you either have them or you don't."

Calves are a bitch to train because they are a super efficient lever. They will respond just like any other muscle group if they are put in a position of "survive or die."

You have to get bloodthirsty intense.
 
i have always been into trying a lot of variation in calf training. i try to do calves 3x per week monday, wed, friday. Generally i try to get at least 150 reps in. today i dis the leg press 4x25 then seated 4x25 then one set of 100 toe raises for the tibialis anterior. I feel this has worked for me and i think the higher volume is needed for a muscle like the calf or at least in my case it does
 
i have been doing kinda a lil mix between BPak and Dantes calf training.... i have got visible results and probably gained 1" if not a lil more in the past few months... i have been doing BPAKs calf set where its 10 reps, 10sec break... 20 reps, 20 sec break....30 reps, 30 sec break.. then 40 reps for 100 total... each training day i do it, i try progressive overload and i add a 5lb plate to each side or make the reps go 5 reps higher, so 15,25,35,45....

i then goto the leg press, load it up heavy, i do 1-2 heavy sets slow....and do an extreme calf stretch with 25sec stretch at the end...

i have always complained about my calves and this combo has had my particular calves VERY sore for days when usually i only get a very slight soreness for a day or 2 and i can actually see and measure growth...

they intentionally pick small dick dudes here so the guys watching them will feel good about themselves. I go to the onsens and if these guys would shave their jungle bushes, they would look so much bigger. Nah, I ain't trying to look, but these dudes don't try to hide anything at the hot baths.
 
I recently made changes to calves on the leg press...I pyramid up to over 1200 from 500 (10, 8, 5, 3)...then I come down 90 lbs and press till failure until I can do 12 reps (usually around 700lbs)
works great for me but the problem is the machine maxes out at 1260....then I will have to start upping the pyramid reps.
overall calf mass has for sure gone up so far.
love the DC video...will need to get a belt for that.
