Anyone used a cambered bar to help the start/speed out of the bottom of bench press?

I do not care for shirted benches so don't need input on whether it helps that though id think not my carryover....

I was thinking of adding some strict sets of six instead of wide grip bench press.. thoughts?

just do an illegal wide grip bench press lol then u dont have to waste hundreds of dollars on a specialty bar

my gym actualy has one... the stretch is a bit dramatic. id guess 4 inches...would be much nicer with 2 inch camber...

Personally I don't use that bar for benching. Not worth any carryover I may get for the damage it does to my shoulders.

If you want power off the bottom work on dead benches, pauses, bands, negatives, etc. Good luck bro.

You can achieve a less severe camber by using the cambered bar you have in combination with a 1 or 2 board, which is exactly what i would recommend if you're going to try and use a cambered bar to bench, a 4" camber will lead to way too much shoulder rotation unless you have super stubby arms.

I wouldn't risk the shoulder issues with using a cambered bar. I'd do DB bench, Incline Bench, DB Incline, Ultra-wides, paused presses, presses from suspended chains, weighted dips

on the westside website where they sell the bar it used to recommend stopping 2 inches above your chest. I didn't think people were actually touching holy shit

Kenny Patterson recommended this to me once, he suggest going no deeper than 1". I'm fairly slow off my chest it seemed to help, but back work and staying tight helped more than anything.

Hate the cambered bar, feels like my should are going to rip off. A friend of mine loves them and swears by it for raw bench.
