can a drug become useless when out of date?

ive had some powdered cialis for a couple of years which worked great at first and now doesnt work ,got me thinking the drug could have lost its effectiveness ?

because ive got it in powdered form who knows how old it could be ,whats your thoughts ?

why do drugs have a use by date ?do they become toxic,loose potency or what else ?

There are many answers depending on the substance.
Light , temperature ,volatility just to name a few.

A friend of mine whos a doctor mentioned before on pills that are OTC and prescription that you could easily add 10 years to the date and they would still work just as fine.

But as hotrocks mentioned the environment you kept your items in would play a role in its purity today.

so is this a high possibility that my powder has become useless?

i think i might have to get a few tablets and see if theres a difference

Well they are just easily degraded because they are in their raw form, now this varies greatly between chemicals and alot has to do with how it was stored.

Would I say it is worthless? No but quite possibly less potent.

Have you tried increasing your dose by small increments to see if a larger dose would get the job done?

Who knows man. I can give you this useless little adecdotal tidbit. I had a vial of Exedrine in my car once that was there for about 4 years - through extreme heat and humidity to freezing cold and dry. One day I had a bad headache and took a couple. They worked like a champ.

yeah i have and its just not doing the trick .
i had considered tolerance but i took a 4month break from it and still no good .

it just dawned on me that it could have lost its potency although there are so many other possibilitys i know .
ive ordered some tabloets so i guess this will tell me for sure
