as someone from the UK Grits are not available. A friend of mine who had seen the ronnie coleman vids recently came back from the USA and bought me 6 boxes of the stuff. Jesus is it just me or this the worst tasting carb ever??

what the hell am i doing wrong. its like cement with less flavour.

is this stuff even of any nutrition value as a viable carb source.

Throw some flavored protein in that stuff and mix it!

grits are LIFE!

i like plain, with a little EVOO, a little butter(Grass fed, organic), garlic & chedder, etc...

put some bacon or sausage in there with cheddar cheese or do what they do in the lowcountry put some shrimps in there.

/grits are a favorite of mine.
Don't over-cook'em, add a tsp of coconut oil and some sea salt
delicious :headbang:

i like to add meat to them , either some browned ground beef or shrimp , I also add cinnimon and stevia to them to make like a sweet treat

this man KNOWS. coconut oil/salt is all you need. make sure you got enough water in them so when they cooking they are soupy...they will harden. if you cook them at the consistency you want to eat them at you will be disappointed.

I like

Eggs and Molly McButter

I like to make mine sweet,

so I add calorie free butter/spray

then some sugar free pancake syrup

or sugar free jelly

or just splenda and cinnamon

ENJOY!:headbang:

cool ill try the cheese option.

i thought for a bit it was like oatmeal but obviously not. ill stick with it like i say ive got 6 odd boxes

Butter sugar and some milk. If all else fails just get yourself some plain old oat meal. I also put some flavored yogurt in my oatmeal at times to change it up. MM

ya like stated before dont overcook them, I like to make mine sweet also...

If you don't like them, why eat them? Plenty of carb sources available and there is no inherent magic to grits. What about plain white potatoes, sweet potatos, ...?

OMG!!!!! You must have bad grits then. Good grits take a LONG time to cook and have a distinct hominy or corn flavor. Just a bit of salt and pepper and I'm happy. Now a lot of southerners mix cheddar cheese into them, but that isn't too good for BB.

make them with crystal light and raisins, dont overcook them

no moen its not that i hate them and im battling through its just the way i cooked them plain and clearly for too long i couldnt work out how anyone eats let alone enjoys these.

i will stick with this and try less cooking time and whack some other bits with it.

is it best as a sweet or savoury dish?? my mate said he went to a barbeque joint in New york and had roast chicken with plain grits and southern barbeque beans. he said it was pretty fricken good!!
