PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES ACCUSED OF PAST STEROID USE FEEL OBLIGATED TO TELL CONGRESS OR THEIR RESPECTIVE LEAGUE OFFICERS HOW AND WHEN THEY OBTAINED THESE ILLEGAL DRUGS AND THE PROTOCOL THAT THEY APPLIED. NOT ONLY THIS, BUT THE MEDIA IS NOW CALLING UPON THOSE WHO DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED TO "FESS UP". WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE??? DO CRACK ADDICTS AND CRYSTAL METH ADDICTS NEED TO DO THIS ALSO? IS NOT THIS PERSONAL? I SAY THIS IN RESPONSE TO MIKE GOLIC ON THE MIKE AND MIKE SHOW CONFESSING THAT WHEN HE PLAYED IN THE NFL HE TOOK STEROIDS TO REHAB FROM A KNEE INJURY. WHY SHOULD HE HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS TO ANYONE??? AM I MISSING OUT ON A NEW LAW HERE?

Witch Hunt

It reminds me of the Salem Witch hunt where the media is running around forcing people to fess up or will hound and tarnish there careers forever. I agree that the media has taken it from a legal matter to a personal matter. What ever happened to the good 'ol days of, 'I don't give a rats ass what people think about me.'

To tell you the truth this is the stance that Bonds has taken and they are crucifying him in the media for it. I was raised to not give a shit what people think, but this type of thinking has changed and people demand an explanation. As if it was there God given right to know.

It completely sucks bro and they won't let this topic go away. Atleast not until they find another whipping boy for more scary news.

i think it might be good when they start to realize that most elite athletes and especially ones with injuries have used and its been this way since the beginning of sport and competition....its only news to the media...even league officials/coaches/trainers have known forever....power in numbers...are they gonna suspend everyone?

Cheating

Crack addicts and meth addicts are not "cheating" in a professional sport. The media whores have taken it upon themselves to police professional sports to once again make them pure for the fatass beer guzzling, chip munching fans who adore these "all american natural superstars" We are really hurting for a non biased medical professional to come forward and tell the media the truth regarding responsible use of these drugs and the minimal instances in which these "deadly" side effects occur.

After how much bullshit the media has fed the general public at this point I don't beleive it would do much good. People will beleieve anything that is on TV quite frankly damage has been done that cannot be undone. I just wished they fucked off gear and jumped on something along of the lines of coke or some other narcotic.

This is more like the Spanish Inquesition. They coax these people to come out in the open and tell them it will b e good for them, they then turn around and make scapegoats of them, sacrificial lamb, made examples of. I too was raised to say what you do in your house is your biz. Who cares if you used. While they are at it why don't they rat out all of their fellow athletes that they helped with their injections. Why not rat out the trainers that knowingly supplied them, even better why don't they just gather them all up in a group, blind fold them and execute them by firing squad!!!!

This shit is just getting out of control and the media is driving it now. It is the best case scenario the gov't was hoping for. Everyone outting everyone for AAS use. Great society and brotherhood they have there. Why on earth would anyone feel compeled to come out when the finger has never been pointed, guilt complex? I wonder how guilty they felt about the millions of dollars they earned while they enjoyed elite status? Bunch of gutless pricks!

be patient...

their will be a change in our presidency soon... I think this will change funding and concentration on such a worthless, useless, BS category of drug use. Bush #1 had much to do with the process of AAS being put on the schedule 3 category, Bush #2 brought use in sports out into the spotlight. Hopefully this will be the last of this family messing up this country and taking it in the wrong direction. I hope and prey are nex prez will focus on the actual probs of this country and try to fix the issues this one has fukd up!

Golic has nothing to lose no records or special stat's and is not currently playing or sanctioned by the league. Thats why he's talking. Mid 80's was the heyday for steriods in sports they were everywhere.

LATS, it's easy... i don't know why everyone is just putting up these strange theories of pharma companies wanting to make money and what not... IT'S PLAIN IGNORANCE!!! SIMPLE!!... go down to anyone on the street, ask them "what do you know about steroids?" they'll tell you that they'll kill you, shrink your penis, make you sterile, turn you into a green blob of slime by rotting your cells, and you beat the shit outta everyone you see... then ask them what they think about steroid use in sports... they'll tell you that it's cheating, because it's a well know fact that after 2 hours of injecting testosterone decanoate, you turn into a super human beast that can run at a speed of 60 mph, leap across buildings, and some people can fly while on steroids... congress isn't different. drugs have become so wide spread that they've become somewhat "the norm"... i know people who smoke weed and do other drugs, and their parents know... what do their parents say "everyone these days smokes weed" or my personal favorite "it's a phase... he'll grow out of it"... my parents are kinda like that... but if i ever told them about my steroid use, they'd flip and take me to counsling or something...

there was this show on Bahrain TV once where they were talking about a bodybuilder who used steroids, then he started puking blood and died on the second day... usual media crap... then they brought his sister on to interview her and she said "those amino acid steroid pills are what did this to him... i saw him take those amino acids and then he started puking blood"... when she said that, my mom flipped!! she tore my room apart (this was when i was natural) and took every bottle i had (even the vitamins) and told me that she's gonna take them to the lab for analysis to see if they're steroids (she works in a hospital)... steroids are just kind of a "new evil" to everyone. it's not like the government knows that there's nothing wrong with it but they want to mislead everyone... they just think it's evil... like crack or cocain or whatever...

I say "bullshit" to Golic on taking juice to rehap his knee, he should just admit he took it because he felt better on it and made him more competitive. I hate it when these guys always quailify their usage by saying they took it for rehap only or better yet they didn't know what it was....... pass the flax oil please!!

You're missing the point:

Steroids = gets media attention = athletes or WANNA BE's who have been athletes or wanted to be athletes but failed (i.e., Mike Golic from ESPN) coming out and saying, "Ahhh.. yeaah,, duh... I uhh usssee to be huuuugee when I took da steroids and it hurt my insides,, derr a yeahhh.."

Then you get moronic past olympic champions who noone currently cares about confessing to roid usage (like we didn't already suspect it).

They all want thier 5 minutes of fame, even at the expense of thier integrity. What matters most to these media-suck-ups is that they get the spotlight on them for a period of time, even if it means admitting to what they feel is "horrible" and damaging to their name.

Screw them. Who cares. I don't pay attention to the morons who admit to past steroid use. I only care that law-enforcement explain to me exactly why a substance with little side-effects and proven to build muscle and enhance mood positively would be illegal while Vioxx, Viagra and other medications are proven to give you heart-attacks, stroke, respitory illness and even DEATH are completely legal prescription medications?

Congress is/has passed laws on steroids with little or no knowledge about these substances, laws passed out of pure ignorance! We know this based on our knowledge of the subject. Just think of ALL of the laws passed in the same fashion, pick a subject, doesn't matter. It's all symbolism over substance, both sides of the aisle. They simply don't act on the will of the people if it doesn't suit their career.
