Can you get prescribed trt without coming off?

I have been thinking of going to an actual clinic instead of "self-prescribed." Is it possible to not come off before you start up with a TRT doc? I spoke to one consultant and she said I'd need to come off to get blood levels tested for the script which makes complete sense. My issue is when I come off the rebound is extremely bad and I'm trying to avoid that. I will almost be guaranteed gyno. Any suggestions?

Possibly a very cool urologist could prescribe you based on testicular atrophy and not testosterone level. I’ve never actually seen that but it makes sense that it could work.

Otherwise I would look into a replacement dose on a similar hormone that wouldn’t flag on basic hormone panel, eg trestolone/ment could work.

I think something like 100mg trest would work for a few weeks as the test leaves your system. I might consider backing my training down to maintenance instead of trying to make log book gains.

This is my plan when I want to get a prescription, maybe this year. I would get some test base to pin in between the first and second blood test. Many docs will want two consecutive blood tests confirming low levels spaced out a month or so.

You can try running something other than test, but there is always a chance it may cause a false reading on the bloodwork. Or use a fast acting test that will clear faster, get your bloodwork, then get back on quickly. You may need to take 2 blood test to confirm levels are low, i took my second test a week later.

I had to come off for bloodwork, i think i waited 4 weeks for my levels to clear, before getting tested. I also had hernia surgery and was out of the gym. I ended up losing 10 lbs real quick. But it was more like lose 20lb lean mass and gain 10lbs fat. It was a horrible experience.

Ya if they see your LH and FSH numbers being 0 they'd suspect you're taking testosterone anyway lol

But without low test levels on bloodwork to submit to insurance, it won't get covered.

You can say what I said to my doc,
“I’m doing this either through you or without you but Id rather do it though you”

She for real said k three weeks get yourself to an appropriate level and I'll take over from there. She is very edgy but allowed me to stay on without coming off.

Most TRT specialists would rather they start with a clean canvas. However I am sure they have seen it all by now. Find a TRT clinic you like and ask them directly. This way they know what they are dealing with and can give you the best advice.

Simply tell them you are unhappy with your current provider and would like to switch and are currently on TRT. I have done this a couple times and none have ever asked for proof or anything like that. I use clinics though as the options locally are shit.

Do they ask for previously blood work?

Never have, they just want current labs and of course I make sure they all look correct. I don't go in with a total test of 1800ng/dl or single digit hdl. lol

So you just submit current labs in range for reasonable TRT (700-900), said you were unhappy with your current provider and they got you on theirs?

More or less yes. I had labs that were literally pulled one week prior to contacting the new clinic.

If you’re in America.
Premier hormone health, it’s a clinic I own part of.
You can get hrt with blood work from within the last year.
If your levels are high just say you’re on HRT. They won’t look into it.
It’s all done online with a compounding pharmacy.

no doubt i would go this route, i think a good Uro would not tell you to drop meds, why? what other medicated conditions are they telling people to drop meds before they can continue care?

Exactly. Can you imagine telling a PT with no thyroid gland, "You need to stop your meds to prove to me you require these meds.........." total bs.

very cool, hopefully it keeps getting easier in the future

An interesting issue I ran into having a TRT doctor out of state last year

The Publix pharmacy refused to fill my Testosterone prescription. Their explanation was that because it's a controlled substance it should be filled only if it's by a provider I have actual physical face to face contact with.

This even after I told my Dr. He even got on a Zoom call on my phone and I handed it to the pharmacy tech. The pharmacy tech proudly and definently told my Dr. they don't encourage out of state controlled substance prescriptions because the potential for abuse and addiction.

Then again I live in state where people believe their God tells them no alcohol before noon on Sundays or they go to hell or something. Yet they practically mainline sweet tea that's so full of sugar the liquid is in slow motion like one of those snow globes you shake as a kid during the Holidays. And deep fried everything is a food group but I digress.

My Dr. was polite and explained that he wasn't a drug dealer and I wasn't a drug addict. And also explained that in all the Publix pharmacies along the east coast he has Rx's filled this is the first and only location that brought this up.

Called the Walgreen's pharmacy across the street. As in literally just walking across the street from Publix to Walgreen's

10 minutes later I had my Rx's filled with no questions no problems.
