Can you have too much sodium?

Given it’s consistent, or roughly consistent, can sodium ever be too high for an athlete that trains hard?

I’ve been watching Stan efferding talk about salt intake, and have been interested in pushing it higher.
 
WTF is up with all these sodium threads, dudes acting like it's going to give them cancer or something...what the bloody hell?
 
You can overdo everything. Even water.

Like stan says, dont ramp up your intake 200% in a day, build slowly.

To answer OP’s question, yeah, of course you can over do it. But focusing on something that’ll cause temporary fluctuations in water retention and blood pressure probably isn’t going to change your physique in a meaningful way, unless you’re manipulating water for a show or the beach. There’s 1,000 threads on this here lol
 
I'm sure you can not sure how much. I'm 185 and get 10k sodium and potassium some days and I'm fine. I don't try I just eat 350g protein and it adds up. Drink about 3 liters a day
 
The body wants balance and health the best it can. And it will seek it out no matter what we choose to do to it. Pouring in sodium in deference to all the other minerals etc. Is probably less then optimal.
