What's the skinny on ordering drugs from Canada into the US? I have a legitmate script, but the US pharmacies want a fortune. I found it for a 1/3 of the price at the online Canadian pharmacies. Is it legal to import personal scripts for non-controlled substances into the US with a legal script?

I don't know in the US, but here, as soon as you involve anything that has to do with customs, it's a different ball game. Here, regardless that you have a script, and you are ordering the EXACT same product (brand, mg, etc) you need an import permit and you will NOT be able to get one. It's the pharma companies protecting their markets.

I think most countries are like this.
I live in Canada and they as well want to protect (monopolize?) the market.
Is it really that significant of a price diff? Can't believe we are that much cheaper on stuff, we tend to be pretty socialist when it comes to pharmaceuticals.

We are much cheaper on patented drugs. Once something has been out long enough you can get a generic version its no different really but in the US its total free market pricing. In Canada prices are reviewed and basically set by the government to make sure they are fair for the consumer and comparable to similar drugs. I also think that our drug patent laws are a little weaker so things can go generic sooner in many cases.

Online pharmacy

I order prescription meds from an online pharmacy out of the country and I've even had my packages opened by customs and still delivered to my house. Did I get lucky then or should I be worried?

chingaling: So this is your first post, eh? Well then welcome to PM. My understanding of the law as it stands it that you are permitted to bring in a 3 month supply of medications without any special permissions or documentation... this does not include controlled substances. Prior to the Ryan Haight Act you could also bring in up to a three month supply of medications such as Valium, Ambien, and so on... But Ryan Haight order medications (soma, valium, or something of that nature) from an online pharmacy and then fin'g overdosed and his mother took on the mission of protecting our nation's children from the evils of online pharmacies... and here we are with current tighter controls... The complete dick side of me wonders why Ryan's mom decided to lash out at online pharmacies... maybe she should have in retrospect examined her relationship with her son... Whenever my son gets in trouble... makes what looks like a bad decision... I ask myself "what did I miss", "what could I have done differently", "why didn't he feel like he could have come to me... and so on... Sorry for the rant... I just get pissed... From my perspective it's akin to blaming McDonalds for obesity, candy for cavities, tobacco for lung cancer... Don't f'ing smoke and your chances of getting lung cancer are greatly reduced... again, my apologies for my rant... So, non-controlled meds: you can bring in a three month supply. ;)

Drift
I like your rants more than most peoples regular statements and that's saying A LOT.

Nicely Ranted.

This is my understanding as well.

Have you thought about running in 2012?
....You have my vote....

The hypocrisy of the US is tremendous. If we could get scripts from other countries, do you know how much money we can save on Medicare, health insurance, prescriptions.... This country is ran by corporations and not the people, VERY frustrating... I wish our forefathers in addition to separation of church and state had separation of government and business.

It is legal to import up to a 90 day supply of medications from another country. To qualify the medication needs to be FDA approved in the USA. For example, Proviron would not be legal because it is not FDA approved in the USA.

Nolvadex would be ok...etc.....
