Carb cycling how long to stay in ketosis?

Dieting for a show I have found carb cycling to be very effective. Monday through Thursday zero carbs and according to test strips I go into ketosis Thursday morning.
To stay in a deficit I keep my calories at 1200 to 1500 per day 7 days per week. I burn 2000 to 2300 per day.
Fridays I allow myself 100 carbs Saturday 150 Sunday up to 200
My question is how long could a bodybuilder stay in ketosis before it becomes detrimental?
 
that seems like WAAAAAY too little calories.
i was never in ketosis and got RIPPED.
yikes on that diet.

Need some more info because he's right, that's an insane deficit and barely ANYTHING of a carb refeed. Height? Weight?
 
Well I'm 59 5' 10" currently 233lbs at 12% bf according to dexa scan that's down from 255 at 17% eight weeks ago my show is in October 5% bf is the goal.
Maybe because of my age (metabolism slowing down) I really don't eat that much anymore.
Talked to my HRT doc he's guessing my daily metabolic rate at 1800 calories per day so with a deficit of 500 that puts me at 1300 calories per day.
As mentioned by Thursday afternoon I'm in ketosis according to test strips.
So Friday morning I'll start adding back in complex carbs so that's around 16 hours in ketosis.
I will have to say Thursday's are tough.
However Thursday is not a training day so I can tuff it out.
Maybe at this point 16 hours in ketosis is to long? And of course I would like to know what you guys think.
 
What method do you use to find your maintenance calories?

Why? Many guys are in ketosis for days, they still get great results.

Your protocol seems good.
 
Yup. Some for months if not years for the very disciplined keto’ers.

I wonder if he is concerned w ketoacidosis (totally different animal than ketosis)
