I have put together what i feel is an excellent cutting diet , where I wont lose too much too fast. My buddy says he carb cycles when cutting , where he will have say 2 high days 2 low days and 3 medium days. Do any of you do this or is it better to just stay consistent ?

Many people take many different approached to dieting. Why? Because we all respond differently to different foods, macros, and meal timing. Some people cycle the marcos around, some like keto-style diets, some like high protien, high carb, low fat...there is a few to choose from.

I believe in cycling the carbs and other macros around to better suit the training protocol.

But if you are a beginner, then it is best to stay constant for a while then make changes to find out what you body enjoy more.
 
Like pretty much every other facet of training, dieting is really a personal thing - what works great for someone else might not for you.

I prefer to lower carbs (not too low) when cutting, with a weekly cheat meal. Lots of cardio, without that, I plateau pretty quickly. This is the drug free approach anyway.
 
I completely agree with small town that everyone responds differently. At the same time, I think there is value in "keeping your body guessing" as long as your high carb days aren't excessive or don't involve intense training.

When I first started the State Champ said to cut out carbs mon.-weds., and then carb up gradually thurs.-sunday. It worked well to assess how my body responded to carbs, and show prep.
