I have heard A LOT of mixed contriversary on stairs for cardio. Do you think stairs fatigue you too much compared to bike, incline treadmill, or elliptical? Thoughts and opinions? Favorite form of cardio?

Stairs for cardio is amazing for fat loss unfortunately I feel like it definitely doesn't help facilitate recovery of leg training.

I like the stairs. I've only had leg fatigue when dieting hard.

Stairs eat my legs up when I'm dieting, I haven't touched them in years. About 70% of my cardio is walking outside and 30% is on an elliptical after my workout.

Same, I feel like my legs are constantly flat as fuck. Legs every 4th day and stairs 25 minutes 7x a week right now.

Alex azarian (RIP) would not let me do anything but stairs…BUT my legs are one of my strongest body parts….idk if that factored into it, or he was just a sick mean individual.

You can adapt to anything, I run 4-5 miles or bike 20-30 miles the day before legs sometimes and be ok, but it took 2-3 weeks before performance didn’t suffer.

Do both! 20 minutes stairs, finish the last 15-20 walking.

Also, if your a fucjing tank like @danieltx or @TheOtherOne55, stairs is probably fucking dumb and more like HIT.

My coach loves them too, as do I! There is a method to the madness as they say. I would imagine stairs would strenthen your legs somewhat. My flatness is most likely due to hitting them so hard, so often right now

And just use common sense. If multiple weeks go by and your legs have no “juice” on leg day, switch to something else.

Definitely accumulating fatigue masks progression

My legs are a good bodypart for me and they recover very relatively fast.
Right now im doing HIIT stairs + LISS along with my normal once-a-week leg day.

Legs have stayed big and full doing this but this is my first time really leaning down with HIIT.
Although recovery has been good, separation has not really come in yet.
So im paying attention to this whole process.

Don’t know about stairs except don’t neglect walking, not running, down them. I.e., don’t take the elevator down.

All look at the legs of the pro velodrome cyclists. At home I have a foto of just their legs and they look better than most bodybuilders. Not Olympian’s of course, but close.

Speed skaters too. But not as good as the velodromers’.

And all have tremendous cardio ability as measured by VO2 max. And they train everyday. How they do it I have no idea.
