Okay fellas, let's say that you're doing very little cardio right now.. Like a half mile walk to and from work every day, but that's it.

Now there's a 5k run coming in that you want to be in as it's for a fund raiser, what do you think would be the best type of training to get ready for this?

Has anyone seen "couch to 5k"? What are your thoughts on this? Any other good programs that you can think of?

I get such a pump in my calves that it's hard for me to run, but I really want to do this 5k. I'm thinking I need to lower everything I'm taking to help with the pumps in my muscles lol

When is the 5K? I would start out interval training and work my way up. A lot depends on how much time you have to prepare..

1 minute running- 4 minutes walking (total 45 minutes) for a week
1.5 minutes running- 3.5 minutes walking (total 45 minutes) for the next week
2 minutes running-3 minutes walking for (total 45 minutes) the next week

etc.....you get it. Work your way up to where you can run the whole thing. Worked for me.
Train 45 minutes cardio every day. I was never into cardio and hated it...now I run 4+ miles pretty much every morning.

Got a pump in my calves the first few times out...but that went away with time.

I've done the Couch to 5K in the past to get ready for a run. Just follow that and you'll be fine.

couple scoops jack3d half hour before will help

Exactly. just start working your way up to it man. After a while your 5k run will be easy as that half mile walk you do :)
