at first I though it was the SEO making my feet and ankles swell but after taking a week or so off from it I now see its the damn walking on the treadmill that is doing it. man I guess I should ride the bike for a few days. I am doing 40min ED and weigh 265 but I have never done this much cardio

anybody else get this?

quite bit cardio there, I always find when just start doing cardio ankles legs take while before can handle it. Maybe cut back to 4 x per week :)

swollen feet

Pumped,

Swollen feet and ankles occur when blood and interstitial fluids pool in the soft tissues of lower extremities.

This can result from many factors but one of the reasons is due to lack of blood return.

The large vains in the lower extremities have one way valves to assist blood in the return to the heart. The normal contractions of the large muscles in the legs act as the pumping mechanism to assist the valves in blood return.

My guess is your legs are not used to being worked in a way that requires a large blood flow with minimal change in muscle range of motion.

Once you have started walking on the treadmill by prior to the swelling, try getting off the treadmill and stretching the larger muscles of lower extremities through full range of motion to assist in blood return. This should help.

Also, check your blood pressure.

It will probably just take some time for your body get used to it.

Good luck,

B.D.

no just the ankles and top of the foot. but I did the bike today and they didnt swell up

Lower leg tightness

crackerjack414,

The tightness you feel in the interior region of your lower leg sounds like something that I've also experienced.

In my case, after examining the anatomy of a lower leg, I decided that it was probably the tibialis anterior causing the discomfort. The tibialis anterior acts in dorsiflexion and inversion of the foot. It also supports the medial arch of the foot.

After realizing this, I got new shoes with better arch support and my problem was solved.

Sometimes though, it could be something called compartment syndrome. This is a link it goes into some detail about compartment syndrome.
