cardio twice a day?????

Just wondering if anyone does cardio 2 times a day. I use to read about people that were doing cardio in the morning as well as in the evening to decrease body fat quicker. Just wondering if anyone is doing this anymore? KS
 
I got lean off of 30 minutes, 5 times a week. I ran 3 1/2 miles today, running does it for me.
 
Running twice a day it's good for decreasing fat, but it is very catabolic.

I think the bast way is to optimize your diet and just do the "essential" cardio work. Are you doing with empty stomach at morning?

Per my endocrinologist, too much cardio (as in twice a day) will also hinder your body's natural test production. Cardio once a day is enough for me.
 
I do and hour every other day. When I diet I go to 30 mins everyday, or at lest six day a week. When that stops working I bump it up till I hit an hour/day. Then when that stops I go to 2x day about 30-45 mins each session(exception to the 2x/day is when it is a training day then I go once.) This seems to work for me.

When going 2x/day I will ocassionaly break stride do to knee pain. When the joints start to whine I give them a day break and apply natural pain rubs to shut them up, ;)
 
Currently walking on a treadmill for 2 hours 10 minutes total per day total. I am splitting it up by doing as much of that 130min in the am fasted and the remaining portion PWO or in the pm. Definitely helps lean out, thats for sure!

I did twice a day for 4 weeks when doing P90x in addition to normal workouts. Definately got fitter and a bit leaner, but about every fourth day I would cut our cardio in the pm just out of burnout.

I had to stop because gf entered hospital and then required a lot of home care but I plan to restart next Monday.

Completely off the subject here, but I hope your girlfriend recovers in a speedy fashion!

Do you perform your cardio exclusively on a treadmill???? How fast do you walk??? Do you walk at an incline??? Thanks in advance!

Well that depends, currently I am soley doing my cardio on a treadmill due in order to keep my heart rate at 120bpm or less. Earlier in my contest prep I would do HIT cardio as well which I incorporated the eliptical and the step mill in but I was also doing far less cardio overall. I normally walk between 2.5 and 3.2mph on an incline around 5-7 (all depending on heart rate).

wow - you guys are doing a lot more cardio than I am now-

guess I better bump it up anyone doing just cardio on off days
been riding my bike on off days- 20 + miles
 
Be careful

Be careful that you guys don't end up chasing your tail. What I mean by that is we all have a certain level or number if you will that allows us to get lean while not only keeping muscle but earning it.

So if we had a crystal ball to tell us if you eat this much today and you do exactly this amount of cardio and weight training you will reach that level or number. Unfortunately we don't have a crystal ball so we pick a number 45, 60 minutes once a day twice a day etc... and hope we get lean. The problem is if we do to much we might eat more which puts us right back where we started aka "chasing our tail"
 
personally i find 30min am with just some bcaas, and 30min pwo is my magic number, i have been shedding between 4-8lbs a week tyrying to maintain lean muscle mass.
 
Certainly the numbers are different for folks in precontest than they are for someone in a maintainence or growth mode. I'm currently doing 140 mins because I'm prepping. Up to this point I think the most I had done was around 60 mins.
 
Im currently doing 3 hours a day usually split into 3 keeping heart rate bellow 130 . From the pictures I have been taking seems I have retained most of the muscle and stripped the fat off.
 
twice a day before 1st meal and after last does teh trick, LBA's after each session.
 
how do you treadmill folks feel about powerwalking outdoors?

meaning, does powerwalking offer the same benefits as the treadmill?
