Cautionary tale of abscesses

Long time member, not frequent poster but regardless just wanted to give a word of warning to all you guys and girls that abscesses must be taken seriously. I just got home from urgent care with an 1 1/2 inch hole in my leg filled with gauze. In a matter of 3 days my "ingrown hair" went from bad to whoa buddy. Don't fear the doctors questions, lack of insurance or whatever it may be. I'm still not in the clear if the oral antibiotics don't do work next step is IV antibiotics at the good ol' ER. From what the doctor told me not treating them is an easy way to end up in the ICU. I've had an occasional abscess from time to time but believe me it only takes one bad one to reevaluate that little red painful bump and how you approach it's removal. So be safe, be clean, stay lean, eat plenty of protein.

Totally agree. Almost same experience. Had a tooth infection that abcessed and spent 3 days in a hospital, not a fun experience.
