cd/dvd drive

Now unfortunately im not exactly clued up with computers so hoping someone can help me ou here.

I was looking to do a back up of a cd ive just purchased, but the cd/dvd drive does not seem to be firing up. It just makes a very short whirring noise as opposed to the usual long whirring sound it made the other times...

I use Nero and it doesnt recognise that theres a disc in the drive as it does not highlight the copy option.

Also. if i go into windows media do to the same it states the drive is empty and the same applies via my computer..

Im guessing in laymans terms the drive isnt fully firing up. Is there a quick easy solution to this???

Run Regedit.exe.

Migrate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Delete the "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" value if there is one for each, then reboot and let me know if it fixed your problem.
