I think you would know if you hit a nerve while injecting, because the pain is severe. I did it once, think it was my leg but can't remember. I remember the pain though, you get that electric feeling almost as if you just got shocked. The muscle contracts and it feels similar to when you hit your "funny bone", but hurts much more.

I think what happens, the injection is close to a nerve and then there is swelling later on and that puts pressure on the nerve.

Yes I hit a nerve before. Actually gone right through it and is painful af.

But I wasn't going to say to him that.but he did say we do it this way so we don't hit a nerve.not inject into it.and he did say so we don't hit a nerve OR inject into a vein

Yes. They use those to deposit accurate injections where danger level is high (close to spine or inside a disk) or they want to kill a very specific nerve. I did GE's integration of their fluoroscopy machines to their EMR called Logician. The integration takes high resolution images of procedures and places the images directly in the patient's electronic file (database).

Update...my lower thigh is still a bit painful but tolerable...but two nights ago I did not sleep a wink...I had shortness of breath...like a dog panting...I considered going to er...my appetite sucks....I am feeling more normal...but still...how can a shot in the middle of my glute cause a bacterial Infection half way down my thigh...I've had plenty of sore glute from t400 and the like....I did not hit a nerve...I know that feeling too....needless to say the jug and both pins18 for drawing and 25 are history...

First time that happened to me was a quad shot. After blood work at the e.r. the dr said it was just real bad inflammation and if I want I can take 2 antibiotics but if I dont I'll be fine. He also told me to refrain from injecting on that side for at least 2 weeks.
