Charitable challenge for all the guys who’ve been on here for a long time: offer simplified “coaching” for free to your friends on social media.

I don’t know about you guys, but it makes me sick watching charlatans and so-called “experts” online sell expensive “coaching” services, as if they have some sort of secrets. I hate that they make money off their pretense to be experts, and I hate to see people waste their money to get information- which at best they could get for free if they spent a few months reading the forums - or at worst is just charlatan nonsense.

So I decided to invite all my friends on social media who are either paying for coaches or have been interested in coaching to DM me with their questions, to quickly teach them to fish rather than have them pay someone for fish, to give them good info, to protect them from the charlatans, and to stop letting these wanna be “experts” and “coaches” make money off the ignorant and vulnerable.

My challenge for yall who’ve been around the block and can teach folks to fish, do the same thing. And make sure to prioritize the common sense about health and longevity - the telmisartan, nevivolol, jardiance, ezitembe, ubiquinol, fish oil, curcumin - the calories in and calories out, the protein, the diminishing returns going above 2-3g, the benefits of GH but the dangers of going too high with it, etc.

Make the world a better place with better safer knowledge, better information, with out the charlatans making money they don’t deserve

I have been helping people for decades. Interestingly a good deal of people do better with the accountability of a financial arrangement. Nothing wrong with that.

All that said, yes a lot (majority?) of coaches out there exploit clients in one way or another. I refuse to do that, always have.

I quit being paid as a trainer around 1995. I have set people up pro bono for decades if they ask for help. That is one of those weird things that people did before the internet and social media. I still get the random person stopping me on the street occasionally asking for advice.... go figure.
I find people often think there is more value in things they pay for then what is free.
Plus some influencer can be a shiny new thing that brings hope as opposed to someone that they have known for years.
And when they quit they don't have to feel guilty every time they see me as opposed to some one on line that they can ghost.
When people quit training or fall off the diet wagon i can get tired of them apologizing or making excuses every time they see me.

99, you're a nice guy for this. But you're also heavily confusing coaches and the two diff populations they are offering their services to...

1. Lay people, lifestyle clients - Totally get it. They don't know much. A "coach" is having to educate them in just about every aspect of this and crushing whatever poor ideas they thought they knew. They are likely the ones you think are suckers following for these charlatans...

2. Bbers/fitness guys - These guys have coaches allll the time. YET THEY KNOW everything you just listed...longevity, fish oil, circumin, CICO, protein, etc...but then why do they hire coaches if they already know that? Thats the part you've missed on...they don't hire coaches because they dont knowww anything. They hire coaches for decision fatigue, to stop second guessing, to take the steering wheel so they can focus on other variables in their life. Everyone who is reading this thread is likely in here....

And i say this as a coach. Honestly, i know TONS of coaches. And i honestly dont look at the majority of this crowd and think, "fuckin fakes, they are selling snake oil..." at all. I am honestly interested in whooo you are looking at or seeing and think this. MOST GUYS and GIRLS actuallly help others, are educated enough to do so, etc. At least to me, its pretttty damn clear to see a fake a mile away. There's a nice personal trainer i know at my gym. Good guy. Juuust competed as his first show. Looked decent. And i see him put BBING COACH on his IG...he only looks good for like 1/4 of his IG pics because he's so new to this shit. Again, i see that and say, "who is falling for this..."

In my experience, no one implements free advice. If you really want people to make a positive fitness change in their life, you have to charge them
Lots of people give free advice. Luki here does, John meadows gave out more free info than he charged for…

I don't help anyone anymore. I keep to myself in gym. Not worth my time. I use to help some people in the gym, but they won't listen if you give free advice. Everytime I mention eat better and train harder, they give me that look where is the drugs. That is the mentality nowadays, everyone is looking for an easy way out, so they look at drugs as a solution. Social media is ruining people.

Same, im done wasting time on people, use to help people with help fixing blood pressure, colesterol issues, blood sugar etc and all people want to do is know what drugs to take..

If you’re paying for a coach who’s not explaining why things are happening, you’re a sucker
The issue is that an explanation can be easily pulled from nowhere and supplied to the client. Newbies don't know any better and are easy to convince. Even IFBB pros get tricked and post videos or messages about it every season.

I am not the most knowledgeable guy on this subject, but I have a pretty decent baseline.

I have provided training/diet plans to friends, co-workers, wife/girlfriends over the years.

The adherence to plan was god awful in general.

More than a few have then hired coaches and like magic their ability to adhere to a plan goes up exponentially.

$s provides needed discipline for many people. Why this is I have no clue.

I will offer basic help or direct them to good info if asked, but otherwise fuck that shit.

Amen.

"Where can I get reta and how much tren should I run to get cut?"
"Whats your daily deficit?
" I dunno"
"Whats your average step count?"
"Walking is hard, What peptides do you use?"
"None."
"I give up"

I enjoy giving out free nuggets and info for the most part.

But, just about anyone in the past ive discounted or did for free (Which has not happened in a long time and will not as its unfair to those that pay full rates), turned out to be a waste of time when I genuinely just wanted to help. As said in the thread, when people invest financially, usually they will take it serious on both ends.

Don't be obtuse man, you know what I mean.

Luki and John give out free advise and of course all of us that care about this stuff listen and implement. And I'll bet dollars and cents that their coaching clients are the most adherent.

We're talking about all the regular people that have come up to us asking how to diet or exercise, and then you spend the time talking them through it, and they do exactly fuck all with the information you just gave them.

Osho once answered a question someone asked him about why his teachings weren't free. He knew what many well-meaning people have discovered in this thread: people value advice more if they're paying for it.

Some smart people know that there are free things that are valuable and things that come with a price tag but are a rip-off, but in most cases humans are very stupid.

After many years of experience, I've learned one thing. Whether people like it or not, it's true.
I've been coaching for almost 15 years, and this doesn't apply only to coaching it applies to life in general. When something is free, most people don't value it. People usually only appreciate something once they've paid for it. If they get it for free, they tend to take it for granted.

It's the same idea as "easy come, easy go."

Look at lottery winners. Many of them lose everything very quickly because they never had to earn it.

I've experienced this myself. Some of the athletes I coached earned their Pro Cards with me. Once they turned pro, I stopped charging them because I wanted to help them. What happened?
Many of them gradually stopped listening to me and stopped treating my advice with the same respect, even though we had gone from complete amateurs to earning a Pro Card together.

That taught me an important lesson. Helping people is great, and I'm always happy to answer questions on forums like this. But when it comes to detailed, individual advice, that's what coaching is for.
Just like a doctor spends years studying and investing time, effort, and money to gain knowledge and experience, coaches do exactly the same.

That knowledge and experience have value.

I had a similar encounter a few weeks ago. I recently dieted off 32 lb. I'm 6 feet tall, 175 lb, and natural. I do not have a professional muscle physique. I come here for the good information and I've always been transparent about that.

Anyway, having lost the weight, I've started wearing tank tops at the gym again. An older guy, who I've seen before, said it looks like I put on a lot of size. I train high volume and most of my sets are higher reps as well (I'm 40). So on this push day all the sets, citrulline malate and sodium, gym lighting and mirrors, made it look like I was going to explode until I went home to deflate. I told him I actually lost weight and he said "Really?!....peptides?"

That's the first place his mind went.

If you have a true skill set, and you are passionate about the said skill set there is nothing wrong with monetizing it. Will these same people you are offering free advice too come pay your hospital bills if something tragic was to occur? no right? If you want to do charity go for it, but should not be the norm.

If you dont like it, dont pay for it. If someone wants to spend money for something, its on them. Let them decide if its worth it.
