Charles Glass Laterals

ive never done them that way......will definitely try.......thanks for posting

shelby, I'm a personal trainer and wondering which muscle do you engage to relax your traps? I know depression of scapula relaxes upper trap so maybe lower trap and lats?

I just keep my scapula down and don't flex / tense my traps.

i kept wondering this as well shelb

frk

ive done these a few times. They seem to put good tension on the rear head of the delt for me at least

Thats a good variation. Form is important to really feel the delts working without involving the traps much.

Doesn't anyone think that doing laterals that way will cause a serious impingment problem?

IDK but I've had more problems with pain trying to do them the more traditional, gym rat way

Wats the advantage of doing them that way? (love drop sets for shoulders by the way...)

Shelby, thanks for posting this. I enjoy doing various exercises for shoulders. Definitly gonna give this a try or two.

IMHO, I dont think so. He's not bringing his arm to far back and not to high either. I would think raising the arms up higher then your shoulder in with this movement would. But not in this case. Try it and see for yourself. Good luck.

In any type of side lateral you should not try to raise higher than shoulder level. If done correctly you will not be able to go above shoulder high because at the proper angle your shoulder joint will not move that high. So in the Charles Glass laterals that is as high as you will get with them. No impingement probs.

I have done them like this before and really like how they feel.
