Cheap protein powders

anyone ever use cheap protein powders in a bind? I just picked up 2 pounds by Body Fortress for just under $12 and wonder if it can even be legit. Funny thing is it actually tastes pretty decent.

I haven't used that one, but I have used a lot of other cheap ones. I'm diabetic and have never had an issue. I would know if there was much of any sugar in the powder.

On a side note, watch the "diet" fountain drinks. I have had a fair number of encounters with stuff labeled diet being sugared.

I use ISOPURE as well but I have been reading a lot about true protein and I am thinking about giving it a try.

I just tried the vanilla flavor from Body Fortress from Wal Mart. It does taste good and you can't beat the price. I got it to hold me over til I got some stuff online, but its all good. It tastes like Optimum's whey. Remember if you got it at Wal Mart, everything is much cheaper there because they buy in such high volume and alot of it comes from China, so the product may not necessarily be substandard just because its cheap.

I also am of the opinion that if you can't afford a good quality protein supp, don't buy something you are unsure of, just spend the money on solid foods in the grocery store. But I would NEVER be in a "precontest" or similarly sincere dieting mode without having fully prepared for the undertaking at the start. It always sucks to find yourself low on the gear you should have already had or short of cash for the foods you planned to be eating mid way through. In the early days I was the king of providing nutritionally for my body on the cheap - but it's always a compromise. Of course if I get caught out somewhere without food and I'm seriously late with the nutrition I WILL absolutely stuff a couple double cheeseburgers from the dollar menu down my throat rather than go without food - BUT like I said that wouldn't ever be acceptable or now-a-days even potentially possible if I'm seriously cutting the fat. Getting my big on? Oh yeah, I will eat no matter what or where - if it is a choice between eating crappy high protein food or going without.
