Im so hesitant to post a pic of my legs. Its hard for me to get them to grow after having back surgery 6 years ago. I can't go over 315lb squats.. If anyone knows of a workout I can do with relatively low weight, please let me know..This pic is cold... Appreciate all the feedback..

Squat 225lbs, 275lbs, 315lbs for reps.. 25+ reps

Might also try using more of the hack squat where you have some back support.

i just recently changed a few things up and got better developement in my legs. Mine are not great but from where they were its a huge improvement. I do the machine leg press, single legged after doing squats. I find a weight that I reach failure at 8 and an honest failure not that i just feel like stopping and I do 4 sets single leg.

By the 2nd set but every time the 3rd set I wont be able to reach 8 reps maybe 5-6. So I stop take a 15 second break and force out the rest of the reps.

Train legs 2 times a week

Workout 1: 135 x 20, 225 x 20, 315 x 20 (fast and continuous reps)
Workout 2: 135 x 10, 225 x 10, 315 x 10 (stop at the bottom for 3 seconds on each rep)

Leg press, seated Leg curl, lying leg curl, calve press followed after squats

It worked for me :)

I don't think weight matters that much anymore. I really honest to god don't.

I see some people throwing huge amount of weight branch warren style and it sometimes make me think I miss those days. Or am I doing the right thing.

I can make any weight feel heavy. I feel like that's what works and that's where I've gotten the most gains.

Filling the muscle with as much blood as humanly possible, resting it, and feeding it.

IMO, after serious back surgery your blessed to even squat.
I actually have dreams where I can squat again..
(without knowing what type of back issue hard to say where u can go).

Hip Belt Squats are a God send...
There de-compressive and actually therapeutic.
There is another thread here regarding some equipment types and options.

The belt is key, do not scrimp buy a good one.
U can start with plates and dumbbells off the floor and much can be done creatively..

I hope this helps..

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F46NZt2WEg]Kris Gethin's DTP Legs & Upper Abs Workout - Bodybuilding.com - YouTube[/ame]

This guy does whats called DTP, very high reps on the leg press. Starts with 50 reps, 40,30,20,10,20,30,40,50. His theory is that legs need high volume because they are used to being used all of the time.

I gave it a try, because I need to get surgery on my back but working around it. Squats fucked my back up. I got what is called spondylolisthesis, my back is actually broke. But the pain is not going to stop me from being what I set out to be.

I am able to do this routine though, and I noticed immediate results. Try it and you will see more feathers in your legs. Give it a shot brother.

Your looking beast btw bro, good work.

remember this my friend. Muscle do not understand weight. Muscle Understand tension. While your performing your legs exercises, keep your legs muscle tenses at all time. That will help you growth and will make a huge difference. Stick to squads, hack squads and lounges.

I will recommended you to see the "Ben Pakulski" Legs training video.

If you want me send me a PM, and I will send you a link to my server for you to download it...

Did x20, X20, 20, X30.... OMG!!:headbang:.. that is all. On the 4th set I could barely do the bar!!! THANKS!

Theres been excellent advice already in this thread, but I must agree with

the high rep idea. Dudes who dont at least give high reps for legs a try are

missing out big time. There's a workout that some dudes like to do, as well

as me, where you just squat for 5 minutes. Of course 4 mins will work, and

of course you can use leg press and leg extentions as well, but if you just

focus on time, then you dont even realise youve banged out 30 reps until

youre done. You could try keeping tension on the muscle for the duration

of a song. Or a couple if theyre short; its easier than watching the second

hand drag along...

Try lower weight if u need to to reach failure at 50 reps. I start with 2 plates each side and can get 50 with a little rest pause. Sleep eat repaet!

hey bro, nothing comes before ur health, if u cant squat and cant do much weight leg press high reps and leg extensions high reps. stay away from heavy weight protect ur back at all cost. when ur back goes ur screwed

I have spondylolithesis also. The X-ray scared the shit out of me. So far doing sit-ups, hypers, anything to workout core muscles has helped me.

However, it does limit me on depth of squats. Lowest I can go is a 90deg angle (and it begins to hurt).

Back to the topic, it seems higher reps and 3 sec descents help me most.

i must say the picture on the right is drastically stretched, not only has your entire frame grown drastically (including bone length) but your fingers have suddenly stretched until they are ridiculously long and thin
