The absolute better place to get hit is the frontal lobe which seem to connect 1st. You also notice his head snapped back so it wasnt a absorbing blow (yes it sure diid damage but I dont think that was lethal contact)

Then again his head snapped so violently maybe he broke his neck or displaced some vertabrae in the c-spine.
