well......it happend tonite

declines started well
135 several sets
225 2 sets of 15
315 1 set of 20
365 1 set 11
405 1 set of 7

flat dumbbells
100s 1 set 20
130s 1 set 12
160s 3rd rep......BAM!!!!!

sounded like a zit popping...lol
didnt hurt at all....scared me more than anything
went right to the locker room....swollin....no color yet
10 minutes in actually felt alittle numb in my armpit
went right home.....20mins, took another look
it rolled up into my armpit...starting to get tighter now
now its 2 hours later.....more swollin and very tight, a little sore
but it doesnt hurt.....feels weird......got it iced up right now
moving my arm around gives alittle pain....but not as bad as i thought
starting to get bruised now....purple and blue in the pit

i honestly dont think its gonna be that bad

gonna wait it out.......see what happends and how it feels in the morn

i try to get some pics up tomorrow

i'm more pissed off than anything

god damnit

Sorry bro that sucks!! I tore my pec major and had it fixed. When mine tore it rolled up towards the center of my chest and hurt like crazy. Like your already doing ice like crazy and stay on top of anti inflammatories. Get it looked at right away. My surgeon told me the longer you wait the harder it is to fix. Mine was fixed 14 days after the injury and he said it was a bitch to get it pulled back over and re-attached. Best of luck bro.
 
just had a buddy go through this last week.. he called and wanted me to look at it.. he came by the next day and the brusing was bad.. down the bicep and the pec.. it looked swollen but actually it had rolled up and was sagging.. he just had the mri and it was complete detachment .. had surgery... doc said he could not have had a better tear.. pulled from the bone.. no fiber involved.. but sucks to be out of commission for a few months..

That REALLY sucks bad ! I feel for ya, hopefully it won't be that bad but still. Sounds like you warmed up enough too, I guess the 30 lb. jump was a bit too much. I would keep icing it off and on and take a big dose or aleve or advil,or any pain meds you might have laying around, but the advil or aleve is an anti inflammatory so should help with the swelling and pain. Not much else ya can do til tomorow, let us know how it looks/feels then.:mad:
 
Sounds like the worst nightmare. Good luck and I hope its not too serious. Id be pissed too. Sorry.
 
That's horrible to hear. Like as already has been said, ice and anti inflammatories. I hope it turns out being not too bad of a tear.

Did you have any pain prior to the tear? I did chest tonight too and I'm pretty sure I badly strained my right pec...hurts like hell up around my upper armpit/shoulder where it attaches. I had the sense to stop doing chest immediately and switch to arms but even then there was pain. Think I went a little too deep with 365 on the flat bench...2nd rep...shaaaaarp pain in the muscle. Did yours hurt prior to the tear or just "pop" as you described?

no pain at all before the INCIDENT

actually.....i felt great and strong as hell before

3 hours later now.....very tight....slight bruising
swollin twice the size of left pec

still doesnt really hurt at all.....just pressure and my fingers are tingling

Same shit happened to me about a year ago. It was on flat bench and it was on my last set. My burn out set. Happened after going fairly heavy...The set before was a set with 405 for 5 or 6. Then i dropped down to 315 to just rep out. On about my 6th or 7th rep it tore and it sounded like a bed sheet ripping. Except I had immeadiate pain, swelling, spasms, immobility, sweating, chills, shaking. I went home and iced it and took ibuprofen..which works awsome. I think the best thing to do it ice and ibuprofen. By what your saying it does not sound so severe, but obviously rest it...and have it looked at...which i didnt do!

Tenny, I honestly can't explain how sorry I am to hear that this happened to you. I truly hope it's "not that bad" and you can at least recover and get back into it faster than what would normally be expected. Take care of yourself big guy!
 
Sound like you have one hell of a high pain tolerance!! That sucks Tenny!! Do you have a good ortho?

I hope it isn't bad big guy! I would definitely get it looked at ASAP, normally the faster they can repair it the better it turns out. My tendon tore where it meets the pectoralis and it didn't hurt overly bad or anything like the horror stories you hear. I would just make sure you get it looked at.

well.....i just took good close look
took a couple pics...(getem up soon)

very little bruising......maybe an egg sized bruise
right at the front delt......3.5 hours later

i'll report back in a few
 
sounds like it may be a rupture (not a tear) or maybe even a soft tissue tear

i hope things resolve quickly for you
 
First off, I am sorry to hear this happened! We work so hard and it sounds like you've more than paid your dues!

I don't want to sound like a dick with this, but I'm curious. Has anyone torn a pec on anything other than flat dumbell or barbell work? I'm sure someone has. But, over and over I hear about tears on a flat bench. My dad and a former training partner included.
