Chlorthalidone for blood pressure and water retention

Has anyone looked into or heard of Chlorthalidone for treatment of blood pressure?

I had asked my doctor about Telmisartan and Nebivolol being used by the enhanced community and if i should try one of those.

He told me to try Chlorthalidone as it is better for lowering blood pressure and it has the added benefit of reducing edema and water retention which is often contributing to the higher BP of enhanced athletes.

I have the prescription but haven't started on it yet. Curious about what the enhanced community has to say about it?

I know it’s a diuretic type medication for lowering blood pressure but never used it. Personally, Telmisartan has been my go to (20-40mg) for high blood pressure when my weight was creeping over 260+lb.

Now that I’ve spent the last 10 months steadily recomping, I had to drop it since my BP was good on its own and with AAS doses upwards of a gram.

Also, be patient. You posted that earlier today. Sometimes it may take a day or two depending on traffic to get proper responses.

Another tip, utilize that search function up top. There’s a lot of threads that pulled up when typing in Chlorthalidone into the search field. Might get a faster answer that way!

Chlorthalidone is a thiazide type diuretic like the more common hydroclorothiazide. Chlorthalidone has a much longer half life and is more potent milligram per milligram than HCTZ. However it may drop your potassium levels much more than HCTZ, so you would need to keep an eye on that.

Personally, I would start with an ARB like telmisartan and if that isn't enough to get your BP down then consider adding another drug such as a calcium channel blocker (cilnipidine), nebivolol or a diuretic.

Update, day 2, I have been pissing every hour for the last 20 hours. I got a cold or something at the same time probably coincidence? But i haven't had a cold in almost a year thanks to gear , anyway all i at yesterday was a protein shake and with all the water loss I have dropped 6 pounds in a day. Blood pressure rock stable at 120/88 zero fluctuation. Before i would go from 115 to 145 with no rhyme or reason to the spikes other than gear use. not sure if i can remain this dehydrated though.

I was prescribed it after my last hip replacement. For some reason, this time I had edema in my leg and foot, with an elevated bp. I’ve been taking it for a month, it has been working. I do pee more frequently, especially in the morning til about noon. Blood pressure has been in the normal range. Like you, I had no idea how much water I was holding

I drink 2 gatorades a day, watch your potassium levels also
