cholesterol is really bad...what to do

got my results back for my blood work...everything was great excpet my cholesterol , it was waaaay off..my good was 13 should be 40 and my bad was 200 and should be 120....i am only 3 weeks into a cycle and i am only doing 750 mgs test a week 300 mgs tren and ....my diet is pretty sound and i am not sure what i can do to get my numbers half way right...any ideas short of stopping my cycle ?
 
I'm in the same boat bro, just had bloodwork done for extra life insurance and my HDL(good chol.) was 47, and my LDL (bad chol.) was 255. My total cholesterol was 342!! Top normal range is 240. I started a diet last week, already dropped 3 lbs. But, it must not be to bad, because they still approved me for the life insurance.
 
Me too HDL came back 41, LDL 153, CHOL/HDLC Ratio 5.6.... been off for 6mo's when taken, I've never had any problems in the past , Doc put me on Pravachol said to come back in 6mo's to get it checked again, he said he normally would not jump so quick to put me on med's because it's not too bad but I've got heart disease in my family:(

my doctor did tell me that my diet was very very good and that my levels are high because my body is over producing it ..he may want to put me on something since heart attacks are #1 killer in my family for men over the age of 30 and 80% of the men on both sides of my family die in their early to mid 40's...since i am 36 i watch this carefully..and since i have attaca cardia this is a lil concern but looking better is too...i wold to die looking good but i am doing something i love to do and would not be happy doing anyhting else...catch 22
 
Are you taking an anti-aromatase? They can really mess up your lipid profile.

I cut way back on letrozole for this reason - from 1 tab (2.5mg) ED to 1/2 tab ED to 1/2 tab EOD and I'm very prone to e-related gyno.

Try taking Synthergine. Phil recently posted how quickly this put his cousin's levels back to normal (4ml ED). Big A posted about how his girl used it orally and really got her numbers aligned.
 
I heard Nolvadex has a really good effect on cholestrol levels, let me try and dig up the article.

I believe thats the case if you have low levels of estrogen as is the case if you run an anti-aromatase. It acts as an estrogen agonist in the liver. I wouldn't see much benefit if your estrogen levels are in the normal range..

May want to look into policosanol. It looks very promising...
 
Cholestrol is main stream phooey. A study done on heart attack victimd found that roughly 50% of those you had a heart attack had high cholestrol. The other 50% suffered an inflammed vien/artery.
 
i agree with xcel and brooklynjuice.. anti e's will really throw the hdl off..except for nolva which has a very positive impact.. what brooklynjuice said is correct.. the readings in question are not the "gauge" that the medical community tries to make them out to be..but, that is what the docs and insurance companies go by so we are basically stuck with it.. i will say this.. i will always have nolva in my cycles.. it helped my hdl greatly.. i also use niacin three times a day and have recently had my lab work done again.. even after a cycle.. i have hdl in the 46 and cholest at 193.. far better than what it was months ago..

exactly.. the funny thing is when it came down to nutrition all i did was take out the fast food.. i was known to eat it at least once a day.. i made up for protein by adding some shakes in.. it is hard to say but, that could have been the factor all along.. but, i will say that most do not pay enough attention to the "health" aspects of the equation.. they take the gear but, most realize that it does a have effect on some health parameters.. take the needed precautions and all will be well.. :D
 
but man it nice tasty way to get 30gm a protein for a buck...:p

Niacin is a cheap and effective method to lower your cholesterol. Available at any supplement store, with minimal sides. The most common is flushing of the skin from vasodilation, but as you continue the niacin, it decreases. For high cholesterol, it's usually taken at 1-2 grams, 2 or 3 times a day. Maybe start with one gram twice a day and work your way up to keep from looking sunburnt.

I agree with that, but with heart disease in his family, his risk is much higher. Lowering any factor would be beneficial.
 
Beta Glucan is reliable and has relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit on terms of reducing cholestrol.
 
im 33 when i went to the doc my levels were through the roof to hdl was good but ldl was very high doc said man u are to young i really dont want to put you on a drug so he said change some of your diet i did 6 months later it was like night and day hadl was about the same but ldl was way down i cant remember the exact numbers but what i ddi was i was getting a lot of my protein from red meat steaks hamburg etc however they were the lean red meats ie: filet mignon maverick hamburg
what i did was i cut out most of that and went to a lot more fish, chicken ,turkey etc and after 6 months voila
i dont know what your diet is exactly but that can have a lot ot dowith it and with some people its just the genes and it doesnt matter how clean you eat it will still be high cardio can be a big help too hope this helps :)
 
Chewwy the cholesterol from red meats are not the problem. The cholesterol you eat is only %15 of total blood cholesterol. Your body makes the other %85. Most of the bad cholesterol is made from insulin spikes. Eat low glycemic carbs and viola, goodbye cholesterol problems. But in the bodybuilding world it's the anti aromatase.
