Chromium Polynicotinate (vs. picolinate) - Anyone using it?

My buddy on here aphextwin mentioned he has used Chromium Polynicotinate for quite some time and I was wondering if anyone else on here does. I do trust his opinion as he has always been well-versed on supplements..but it concerns me that there aren't many prominent companies producing this version. Either way, I am looking to see if I missed or overlooked something on my optimal choice of chromium. Thoughts?

What are you using it for?

Basically Chromium Polynicotinate has a greater bioavailability (to what degree, I'm not sure). This is from examine:

"Chromium nicotinic acid is a form of chromium bound to niacin (vitamin B3), which has cholesterol-lowering effects. Because studies noting reduced cholesterol failed to show effects on glucose metabolism, the cholesterol-lowering effects of this chromium compound may be due to niacin."

I take a multi that contains the other form and I'm fine with that.

I will try and see if I can dig up some info that Datbtru had on Chromium Poly. Is it sexy, no. Does it help keep glucose levels maintained better than picolinate, yes. I've seen that on my own with my glucometer. Does that mean someone can eat pizzas....absolutely not.

Sooner or later someone is going to come on her saying why use it when you can utilize ALA, Berberine, Metformin...etc. I won't argue with someone about it, but chromium is not something someone wants to be deficient in. If someone drinks diet sodas, they will be deficient....etc.

Read on another forum years ago that picolinate is an inferior form and has potential for cancer risk at higher dosages. Not sure I believe it....
