Chronic non bacterial prostatitis

I hate to even make this thread because this is such a shitty subject. Im currently being treated for bacterial prostatitis. First course antibiotics was 3 weeks didn't work. I'm now into my second course. Main issue is urge to urinate pain during urination after bowel movement. When I ejacaulate it's a nasty yellow color. I'm up all night with anxiety depression. I can barely sleep and enjoy my life.

If things don't get better I have to start facing the idea this could be more Chronic. Am I sentenced to a life of hell? Is there ever any break from symptoms or do they come and go? Is bodybuilding with AAS done for me.

I'm terrified right now. Please those with insite who have the chronic version can you chime in. Do symptoms get less intense does life ever feel normal again?

Had same issue a year or two ago. Went to doc did antibiotics and followed diet. Diet is just stay away from spicy food. That sux cause I put salsa or spicy shit on everything. I stopped all alcohol and just drank water. That took care of my issue after a week or two. Now I pop a prostate health pill daily. I get it from Costco. I also make sure to kinda keep the spicy food to a minimum.

well . . .

This subject has been discussed many times here. Use the search engine
for addition information and insight as this board is comprised mostly of
men and many of us have suffered from it.

I am no expert but have been there, know what you are going through
starting more than 20 years ago so I will share my experience’s and opinions.

From what you are describing, a second course of antibiotics (different?)
may very well work. If not, than another or perhaps another may be in store
for you. Everybody is different and unfortunately it can be just trial and error
until you find what works for you. Also, find a good urologist, one that is
sympathetic and understanding which I suspect will be difficult as most urologists
are dick heads (pun intended) in my opinion and will view you as a nuisance, i.e.
take this and leave me alone.

Hang in there. Relief / remission is possible. Relief is the easy part once you
find what works. And remission because quite possibly that will be what
you are looking at moving forward. I have been told, and my experience
bears this out, is that once you have ‘it’ you will always have it. It is not a
‘life of hell’ but one that is manageable over the course of time.

After my first bout of ongoing prostatitis 20 years ago (actually 35 years
ago with 15 years between flare-ups) I was having a flare-up every four
months. That seemed to be the new normal for many years . . . have a
flare-up, take antibiotics, it goes away, only to reoccur and with the
same pattern of treatment.

In my case, and I hope yours, the frequency of flare-ups did decrease
over the course of time. Now I get a bout about once every 18 months
and is easily treated. Two things have helped me; number one is
recognizing it in its early stages (less intense) and not waiting until it
gets full blown before you take your antibiotics. Number two, and this
is purely anecdotal, is taking probiotics. There are many forms and types.
Find one that is right for you. It will be a trial and error process
I suspect. Also, try to minimize stress, both mental and physical. In my case,
it effected my immune such that I would get a flare up, typically right
after I got a cold. But now (probiotics?) I rarely get a cold whereas I used
to get them once or twice a year. Bottom line, just take good care of
physical and emotional self. Your body will thank you.

My experience with AAS is limited to testosterone only (TRT) so I can only
speak to that, of which I will say there is zero coloration between dosage
and prostatitis though heavy androgens have been known to increase
the size of your prostate gland which brings on it’s set of fun problems.
(That may be true with testosterone as well but my experience says
different. My prostate size is ‘normal’ with a PSA of 0.4 and I am 64 years
old and I never have to get up at night to urinate.)

Additionally, there is no correlation between the acquisition of prostate
cancer and testosterone. However, and this is a big however, testosterone
acts as a ‘fertilizer’ if you have prostate cancer (my Dad died from it, stage
4 . . . a living hell). This not intended to scare you but only for you to keep
a close watch on your PSA. It should be part of your regular blood test if
you are taking AAS. If you can afford the drugs, than you can afford the
blood tests, simple as that, should not have one without the other . . . and
not just when off, which seems to be increasing often. But that is another
topic . . .

Hope this helps and am happy to answer any questions.

Be well,
alfresco

Awesome information Alfresco thank you so much!!!!
What an awesome write up!

Now, I drink a cup of kombucha a day. In the past I have taken
a probiotic in a capsule form, no specific brand, whatever was
on sale. Plus my diet is very light in processed foods. Most every-
thing we eat is made from scratch which has been the case for
much of my adult life. Combined, I believe all those things have
made a difference in my overall health.

People say to avoid spicy foods but I have never found a correlation.
When I used to drink alcohol (fermented, never distilled) I can
acutely remember having flare-ups if I over consumed. Again, I
think anything that stresses or compromises your body will therefor
make it venerable to prostatitis especially if you have had it before,
that is if you believe the common wisdom that it never goes away.

Thinking back now, in my youth, I had a long history of UTI’s
(never any form of VD) which was easily treatable and which I
contributed to an over active sex life and too many partners but
that could be pure fantasy on my part ;)

Well . . . I’m rambling now. Off to the gym . . .

A friend of mine has battled this. One thing that has helped him is oregano oil with the high carvacrol (sp) content. It's fairly inexpensive and might be worth a try.

Just looked into that and ordered some thanks!

I've had prostate issues like this in the past. It was a horrific experience. Something that always aggravated my prostate and worsen inflammation was tough bowel movement. A trick that worked marvelous is a heaping TBSP of Metamucil EVERY evening before bed. Bowel movements became easy painless and fast and quite nagging my prostate

Curious how long your flare ups lasted. Did you ever go on antibiotics? Do you still get flare ups?
