Chronic tendonitis/joint issues

I haven't had an MRI of the elbow. I did of the shoulder and they found some rotator cuff issues, they said it looked like at one time I had a small partial tear. They also said I had some impingement issues.

bro i had impingement with both shoulders they wanted to do surgery on both. but who can be one armed for 6 weeks x2. glucosamine chrojointent with msm.
(spelling) is one supp i fully believe has kept me from any shoulder surgery. along with shoulder stretches before working out.

iontophoresis...

I had my first session today on right elbow. The PT basically used electric current to shoot corticosteroids into my elbow joint. She told me that I need to be stretching much better, which I knew. She said that bodybuilders put on all that extra mass and strength, which is good, but often neglect stretching.

Gonna incorporate good stretching daily now!!

Will update on the iontophoresis and let you guys know how it is feeling after several more sessions. Feels really good right now, 8 hours later.

my 2 ccs

i had a similar problem some time ago. my tendons hurt so bad i was on the verge of tears many a time in the gym. id always think its feeling good, then push myself, then regret it later.
well, i tried resting for 3+ months, and went to see a physiotheropist & sports doctor. he gave me some excercies to do to strengthen up the area.
i tried msm, condroitim(sp?), animal flex, coq10..etc without much luck.
a few weeks after i added deca (200mg/week...titrated to 100mg/week after 1 month) and i felt great. i was able to keep training intensely, and heal at the same time. I believe at least the substance created an environment for my joints where it could heal comfortably.
i swear by it.

same thing when i had *debilitating* joint pain from @#$&*!>! Accutane. deca cleared it up after 3 weeks again.

An important step is finding the cause... I have BAD elbow pains, and took 3 months off direct tricep/bicep work (Nov, Dec, Jan).
This helped SOME but not much...WHY? Because the tricep was TOO tight as well as forearms. So, they still got worked in back movements and chest/tricep presses.

Next, I spent a couple of months stretching the areas and doing Self Myofasical release to provide the proper length/tension relationship...and next thing I know I have eliminated 80% of the pain and can train arms again...

Of course...in the meantime using Ibuprofen would be beneficial as well as products like cissus and MSM/chondriotin/glucosamine supplements. Things like long term gh use will help some as well...IGF and local shots of other peptides may show some benefits for healing...but without getting the proper length it will return.

For example, once I was able to train tris/bis again I eased into it weeks 1-2 then by the 3rd week was blasting them heavy again and there was minimal pain. I stopped the stretching and before I knew it...pain was back! GH/peptides helped some and I always take joint support products which help SOME...but I know until I get it stretched out again, there will be pain to train around...

Going to TRY ghrps and potentially IGF in the area...but even if this heals the damage it would not be a long term fix if the problem that caused it still exists...

I wouldn't mind exploring iontophoresis which is basically a technique using a small electric charge to deliver a medicine or other chemical through the skin. Basically an injection without the needle.

overrated and not the same. I had it done several times for several injuries with only minimal success.

Some things I find/found helpful for various issues.

As stated above: Self Myofascial release

Of course ART - also I find doing as much of this as you can yourself as home is key as well. I do my triceps and biceps on my own, the tricep/elbow ulnar area when I have pain.

Trigger point therapy - they put a needle in you and move it around, crazy but man you are so loose when done.

Acupuncture - I get this every week and the doc hooks up the stim to the needles, really helped my shoulders over the past few months.

I have had the iontophoresis on my knees in college and it was so so not something I would bother with again.

NY muscle...

Can you explain how you did the self myofascial release? I am doing the stretching they showed me and at my next PT appt. will discuss different approaches rather than iontophoresis.

Thanks for any info!

Sure here you go check this video out:

A PT/chiro office should have all sorts of rollers and things available to buy/use.

doc says he didnt want to inject the tendons as it weakens them. but we have exhausted the other options with no relief on ether elbow. so i see him and another specialist monday. talk about injecting or surgery. they are barley attached to the bone he says. and not sure injecting will even be good enough.
hope yours isnt as bad as mine surgery would put me out 4 months on each arm.

you guys make sure you stretch good before working out and do not do full extension preacher curls with heavy weight. this shit sucks.

Yeah, I'm laying off the preacher curls and the skull crushers!!

I'm using the osteo- biflex brand of glocosamine and chondroitin for over 6 weeks now and feel its not doing much for my sore joints . I have used deca for 7 weeks and felt no relief either for joint relief. If you have medical insurance or can afford to go to a private clinic and have a cortisol injection this to me is the best option since it helped both my elbows for quite some time although some people have told me it did very little or no good for them because it depends where you get the injection and how bad the pain is .

Where do I stream TV shows online?

I discovered this seriously fantastic web site to watch TV episodes on line has anyone else heard of it?

glocosamine and chondroitin helped my shoulders greatly. but from what i have been told even though my pain feels like its in the elbow joint it is originating from the tendon being tore from the bone.

Potentially some truth to this...also consider that it could be severe over tightening of the tricep or forearm muscles causing the joint to ride unevenly...
hence the suggested massage/SMR and stretching to get the proper length/tension relationship.

Also consider, similar to the knee (where if hams are weak and quads are VERY strong/tight then knee pain results) there could be unevenness in the strength of the bicep vs tricep. Could be any one of these, or a combo of them ALL.

Best for me has been 200 mg of eq, 200 mg test cyp weekly and 2iu hgh 5 days/wk. Similar dosing with deca wasn't as effective. This has worked great for joint pain and mid range tendon soreness ( all soreness is gone) but I think that some of the therapies mentioned above would be best for advanced tendon damage. I can tell you that one year after my daughter's car accident the therapists finally used ultrasound on her knee and in a month it was 90% better.

This article is interesting regarding collagen synthesis:

Sounds like a functional issue. You need to go see a chiropractor who can check your elbow and make sure the problem isn't coming from your shoulder, first rib, or lower cervical spine (which is where the nerves of the brachial plexus exit the spine-these nerves supply the whole arm)

Next if the problem is at the elbow, and its chronic, ultrasound won't do anything. Ultrasound is for acute problems. LASER therapy will help significantly though. I would agree that deep tissue will help but you must make sure that they are stretching the fascia over the muscle. Just rubbing on a trigger point, especially if its chronic won't do much except hurt alot.

There is also another technique called "bleeding the tendon" it involves scraping over the tendon with a butter knife-like tool from proximal to distal that draws blood to the area while resetting the tendon.

Good Luck

I have been to PT doing stretches, deep tissue massage, ultra sound.but it was threw an MRI which shows the tendon tore from the bone. now if they were doing everything correct im not a doc so i have to trust there expertise.

i will sure ask about laser therapy and bleeding the tendon monday when i see him and the other specialist. he has not mentioned these. but i also did not know it was actually tore from the bone. but thats why he didnt want to stick a needle in it to further weaken it. and i have been to a chiro as well which referred me to the ortho.

Yup all good info and everything I was told in the past by my ART Dr. and he used the scraping technique on my elbows as well and worked.

Yeah, I've been doing ultrasound and iontophoresis along with stretching.

So far, not much difference. I ran into a high school buddy who is a chiropractor now and am going to give him a try.

Thanks for all the good info fellas. This helps alot. I have also dropped a few of the exercises that kill like dumbell hammer curls, skull crushers and close grip bench presses.

I kinda wonder if it is my triceps instead. It's hard to tell as to what is nerve pain from inflammation and what is tendonitis.
