Classic Physique is becoming as good as Men’s Open

I’ve noticed myself watching more and more on the Bre/CBum rivalry and then seeing all the others physiques getting better and better, and I find myself almost looking forward to this years Classic Physique as much or more than Men’s Open.

That may be a stretch for many of you all, but when it first came however few years ago I wasn’t excited in the least about it, and now it’s really added a lot to the Olympia.

And yeah I’m pulling for CBum to defend.

I definitely like the variety and rivalries that go with it. It makes the whole season more fun to pay attention to. But I could never see liking the classic more than the open.

All personal preference. For me, not even close.

I train in Dallas where the guy who just won the last pro show in FL trains like my fucking dead Grandmother. Then yesterday Hunter Labrada is in here Bret Wilin and Martin Fitz banging out 400-500lb squats/bench.

This ^^^^ not even on the same planet, but I do like some of the classic physiques, problem for me is that 65% of them have no business in classic physique.

Not much comparison for me. 3 years after I started lifting without using any PEDS I competed in my first show and would have been 3 pounds from the cut off limit and would have had to stop training or growing to be competitive in that division 25+ years ago.

Out of curiosity why do you think that? Better for them to go Open or 212? Would you tweek the weight limits?

I don’t want to speak for b-boy but I agree with him 100%. A lot of people do classic just because they can make the weight limit and can be competitive quickly but structurally they belong in a bodybuilding division. Think George Pederson before he decided to make the switch to 212
