Clavicle bone..

Was wondering if you guys may be able to help me out. Recently i have been feeling a very odd pressure on my left clavicle bone area when doing close grip bench for tris. It's hard to explain, all i can say is it feels like a lot of pressure in that area, and as soon as i rack the weight it goes away.

Its odd becuase its not reallya the muscle, its just the left clavicle bone carrying through across to slightly to my left shoulder.

I did declines today and felt the same thing. Any ideas? Didn't stop me frmo progressing in weights today, but just very weird to feel pressure like that.

Any ideas?

Bump...anyone ever feel this or have any clue? Of course if it continues i will see a doc, but just wondering if anyone has any input

it is funny you posted this, right now, after my last chest workout, i have been feeling pain in left shoulder blade are all the way to shoulder and even elbow. is this what you are feeling or just when you bench? I am thinking i might have pinched nerve.

No my pain is in the left clavicle bone going across to my shoulder. It feels its just the bone, since i'm sitting here pressing against my upper chest and it doesn't seem to hurt, but once i press on the clavicle bone it feels tender..maybe its bruised or something..not sure

Does it run the length of the entire clavicle, or mostly at the distal end where it meets the shoulder? If its mostly at the end then I would guess that you have strained those ligaments that hold the clavicle to the acromium(part of the scapula). This is called the AC joint for short and is what you damage when you have a seperated shoulder. I hurt mine a long time ago in an auto accident and had pains like you describe.

Yea what mal said, AC joints can seperate and then cause impingmment in this area. Football players and heavy lifters can encounter these problems frequently. Maybe go and have it looked at!

shit i donno..if i hear anything ill let u know havta check my med. dictionary or somethin

Yea, it is my left clavicle bone, the pain starts probably mid-point on the bone and goes a few inches to the left to where it meets my shoulder.

If i apply some pressure to it just sitting here i can feel that it is sore.

No other movement is affected, except chest pressing movements.

Did you just rest it for it to go away or did it require doc treatment?

Another thing to note is i have no swelling or deformity, which from what I've read is common when you have this type of injury, which makes me ethink i don't have that exactly but maybe just a slight strain or something.

I have no pain in my shoulder at all just the clavicle bone leading towards the end..i will rest is and try to stick with dips for the time being.

If anyone has any other info let me know.

Thanks

Sounds like you have what I did, strained ligaments at the AC joint. All they have to do to test for this is have you hold a sandbag weight with that arm while it hangs to your side and then x-ray that joint in your shoulder. A slight seperation will show between the 2 bones. All you can really do for it is rest, as far as I know. I had to stop doing any lifting that hurt it for at least 4 weeks, and then start back really light. If you persist with lifting through it, its only going to get worse and will never heal. I was dumb and tried to lift through it using lighter wieghts, but it still hurt. I persisted on doing this for weeks on end until I finally got the picture. I was a young and dumb 19 yrs old.

Thanks man i really appreciate your input. I will avoid the exercises that aggravatite it keep lifting..hopefully a good 3-4 weeks like you metnioned will do the trick. I will see a doc if it continues to hurt after that.

Funny thing is it doesnt hurt with dips..at least not that i noticed..just presses on my back (decline, close grip)

both of my shoulders click these days when moved up and outwards
