I'm at the front end of my first contest prep. I've noticed that I'm constantly hungry. Any tips or tricks that any of you vets could share with me? Man, I'd really appreciate it. These keys on the keyboard are starting to look like M&M's!!
 
I can relate.... For me to get really lean.. I had to drop calories pretty low.. Low days somewhere around 1600 calories.. With early morning cardio, i was hungry all the time.. LBA's between meals.. Really helped with curbing hunger.. Big A stated that if your hungry.. Then eat protein.. I think that is pretty solid advise..

I am doing a 16 week prep with Alex Azarian right now. I don't notice being overly hungry, maybe slightly. I getting leaner, while maintaning weight. I guess it depends on your diet and also, how much BF you need to lose for show.
 
Eat a lot of lettuce and celery, it does not have many calories at all but fills you up.
 
Are you using any kind of metabolism enhancer/fat burner?
If not, you might consider 1,3 Dimethylamylamine - good for focus, fat burning AND really suppresses my appetite.

so while dieting for a contest, or just to lose fat....you should be considerably hungary all the time.

I just thought to diet without losing to much muscle you would only subtract a 300-500 calorie deficit to your maintainance calories.

Then i read that some people go as low as only getting in 1600 cals while dieting!?!

Is this the difference between slow and steady, and rapid? Or to get absolutely shredded(which i've obviously never accomplished) must the calories eventually dip that low? And if so are the majority of calls coming from protein? :confused:

I know i need to hire a trainer. :D Once i reach my goals on my own, i will have to to reach the next level of conditioning. Until then i will continue to learn on my own.

Are you doing morning cardio, that shit makes my appetite go nuts!!!! As soon as I put the fork down my stomach starts growling, lol! But yeah Alex's diets are packed with great tasting food so I couldn't wait till my next meal, Especially breakfast :D

I can tell you that the breakfast is very fulfilling! I had a hard time at first just to eat all that. I do cardio before my workouts. If I am getting closer and need to drop more BF, then I will also include morning cardio.

I dont always explain really well in detail WHY i do the diets the way i do but..

there is a reason and there is a progression the diet i advocate and a reason why i do slow, long preps..

I usually let the dieter find out how it works.... And I see that people working with me are figuring it out and explain it really well.

Hunger is a big part of dieting and I plan for this.. I dont want to be starving and suffering anymore than anyone else.. And i really want to keep the suffering to a minimal because then you can direct your attention on your training and be less miserable in the process.

Pesty for example is doing a long slow prep, Eating more food than he is used to eating while dieting and slowly dialing in as he is supposed to( i know he is well on track because i seen with my eyes at a recent show).

Scott, is correct.. Breakfast should be a treat.. Especially after fasted cardio.

And when i mean a treat, i mean, you should reward your body after a night of no food and hard work( cardio) with some rewarding carbs and protein.

Suffering hard should only occur when your bodyfat dips big time into the single digits and your body wants to hold fat, while your efforts are stripping it away.. I.E. hams and glutes start to shred up..
 
It took a couple of weeks, but I think I'm adjusting or just getting used to the hunger. I am chewing a considerable amount of Skoal these days. :(
 
No problem...keep us posted if you give it a try.

Pretty sure the tater juice isn't an option at this point due to the keito diet i'm on... I will try it in the future though.
