Could someone build muscle and grow on a diet listed below????

- 4 scoop protein shake (100 grams Protein)
- 1 cup oatmeal with 2 tbs. natural PB
- 4 scoop protein shake
- Chicken breast and sweet potato
- 4 scoop protein shake
- Lean meat and veggies
- 3 scoop casein before bed

Now, I'm not talking about if they are using cheap protein powder with fillers in it but rather a quality protein supplement. It's extremely high protein with lower carbs so maybe add waxy maize 1 scoop and only do 3 scoops of protein to get the carbs up??? I'm just throwing it out there to be discussed maybe someone here has used a simaliar diet with sucess.

Depending on the size of the cuts of meat, that close to 500g protein per day. Total overkill.
 
Try it, but you'd be better off finding a balance between all macro's. Not enuff healthy fats or carbs in the diet above but i guess it depends on your goals.
 
Simply put, NO.

Whatever the stats of the guy, there's definitely not enough carbs and fats in that diet. Even more if the dude has already some size on him and a pretty fast metabolism.

Proteins build muscle in the presence of adequate amounts of the 2 other macros, as stated w8lifterty. On itself, protein does nothing except being transformed in glucose by your body.
 
yeah....i usually eat a lot of spaghetti and ice cream when i'm bulking.....and pot pies, and pizza, and rice a roni, and cookies......ugh.......i've been bulking for a while.
 
Thats almost a keyto diet. Without carbs and some fats, your body will just burn the protein for energy. And it would be a slower process, so you wouldn't have much energy.
Thats why I never understood Palumbo's theory that you will "feel stronger and have more energy and get bigger" by not eating carbs.

The fats (eaten and stored) give you energy!

A real keto diet is at least 70% of kcals coming from fats.

So the diet outlined by jfunk was far from being a keto one. A "protein diet" maybe, but that's about it.
 
Oh, I don't know much about keyto. My body type has to have carbs. I'm just too lean. Its a curse and a blessing at the same time.
 
Haha Phidias, going to have to disagree bro ... Someone with good genetics would grow jus fine on that diet, but it is far from optimal.
 
I know that I threw the diet out there for a question of "if" someone could grow on it. I think a smaller guy still developing has a chance but to me the diet seems more like one to burn fat or a cut because of the lack of fats and carbs.

If I were actually going to try something like that it would be the 4 protein shakes and the other meals would be....... Pizza's, lot's of PB and EVOO for good fats, most likely dirty foods to grow, I'm like Hellraiser in that I have a FAST metabolism and take high protein and high carbs to grow.
