HOW MANY OF YOU USE ANY TYPE OF CREATINE ON A PURE MASS BUILDING CYCLE? I HAVE ALWAYS USED IT IN THE PAST, BUT I READ ON ANOTHER BOARD NO ONE USED IT DURING A HEAVY MASS BUILDING CYCLE. ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Whether bulking or cutting, stay away from Creatine ethyl ester, as its effectivness is very suspect:

"the studies done by the FDA, with legitimate assayed CEE, show massive spikes in creatinine (a waste product from creatine breakdown, my addition) within an hour after ingestion."

The link gets very technical but the conclusion is that CEE breaks down as soon as it leaves the stomach and enters the bloodstream, i.e. it's BS.

I typically only run creatine off cycle.
 
I LOVE creatine. Its a great strength and mass builder. You hear of stories about people tearing muscles and blaming it on creatine but its BS. I spoke to one of the top orthopeadic sports physicians about this and he said the only trouble they've seen has come from their sprinters. He'd even used it and loved it.

I take 5g's post workout with 5g glutamine all the time. Occasionally i'll take a 10day break every 30-60 days. Im not sure but I don't think it was ever proved that you need a break from creatine if taking small doses. I heard its a must when using anavar.
 
I never got much out of creatine monohydrate but I love the CEE.

17a-alkylated compounds enhance creatine synthesis, but at the expense of protein synthesis. Non-alkylated compounds (like test and it's 17b-esters) only increase protein synthesis but don't boost creatine production. Basically, methylation of guanidinoacetate in the body results in creatine. Donors of the methyl group are choline and methionine. Guanidinoacetate arises from a reaction between glycine and arginine. The essential aminos methionine and arginine are needed for both normal protein synthesis and the formation of creatine. Therefore, 17a-alkyl compounds stimulate the formation of creatine at the expense of cell protein synthesis because the two precursor amino acids are not optimally available for both. That means that if you take extra creatine with you're orals, you can free up more aminos for protein synthesis and that's what you really want anyway. It also makes sense to use creatine with non-alkyl compounds too because they are only concerned with cell protein and neglect creatine synthesis. So it's basically a good idea to use creatine no matter what your on! Especially with oral only cycles to optimize the effects or with ester only cycles to add the extra dimension of creatine loading. If you're stacking a high dose oral with an ester, then creatine is probably not as important in that case.

I havnt used any creatine in years But was thinking of it...
Are you guys still using the CEE?

Heavylifter posts is the first bad reveiw I seen I thought the ethyl ester was the one we wanted?

i am pleased with CEE. me confused:confused:
 
I've been using it (CEE) only because I don't get the gas and bloating as with monohydrate. But as far as noticable effects, nothing so far has been as noticable for me as regular old creatine monohydrate. I can say that creatine gluconate gives me good results but not for the same duration.

Unfortunately creatine monohydrate wrecks my GI tract.

The debate over CEE is ongoing in the scientific community. It is known that it breaks down very rapidly when it hits the blood stream. Whether the body's esterases (an enzyme) can form some usable creatine before it is all destroyed is not yet known. Many individuals, myself included, DO NOT notice any positive effects from CEE use. However, many DO get good benefits. Just go by what works for you.

Creatine monohydrate has been shown to be effective in 50+ scientific studies - this is the product I'd recommend, if you don't have any GI or other tolerance issues (disclaimer: I have not studied creatine malate or creatine gluconate). Just be sure to get a quality product that has low levels of toxic heavy metals, since you will likely use 5+ grams each day. Creapure, manufactured in Europe, is very pure. Stay away from Chinese product, which contains as much waste as creatine, and loads of lead and other metals.
