I'm curious what each of you think about it. Of course, you may also disagree if you think he trains hard and heavy.

So, what kind of lessons do you take from seeing Phil Heath training?

I'd like see what his training looks like

I'd like see what his training looks like

from what ive seen......nothing serious at all...
few set of this and that....not even really breaking a sweat...

maybe they were just cam shoot training days...or whatever

don't think ive ever seen him under a squat bar...

Genetics rule in bodybuilding.
- gentletics to build muscle fairly easily
- genetics to handle drugs and side effects
- genetics to process large amounts of food
- genetics to remain relatively injury free
...and on and on and on.

I read somewhere that he only trains his arms 2 months before the Mr O.
Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He trains just enough to be Mr O. And he knows what that "just enough"
is for him.

Truthfully, he has regressed to some degree over the last 3 years.

But it's not a reflection of how he trains, it's more about the "drug pressure"
to keep getting better..................and in his case it hasn't gotten to a
point of him being beaten.

He's too far ahead of anyone.
Same with Flex Lewis.

Everyone is under the impression that you need to annihilate and destroy your muscles for them to grow. Most of these people have probably NEVER tried training with less volume, less frequently. I have and it works wonders.

The key word is to STIMULATE muscle growth, not ANNIHILATE the muscle. Does anyone recognize the difference??

Are those "athletic genetics"?

That's up for interpretation to the individual. Personally I don't think you need to be an athlete to bodybuild but I also don't think it could hurt. In my eyes bodybuidlers are not athletes.

There are plenty of ladies who train hard, so that might be a compliment.

I've been in the gyms several times when they are filming videos like"in the trenches" and it really doesn't give an accurate perspective on the workout. With the crew it can take them forever to set up the shot so the athlete might end up going heavier and using more intensity techniques than they actually use in day to day training (where they might usually move faster and use more moderate weights). Some of Phil's videos look more like they are just shot on the fly while is he doing an actual normal workout, so of course it doesn't look like he is training as hard in comparison.

It'll keep from getting injured like every other past Mr. O. Never saw many injuries in Arnies days, now it's so common. Don't hate the player for having genes where he's not killing him self to win.

I would have to agree with MT and Tenny. He isn't going to go balls out training on information videos,at least I wouldn't think so.And MT said it best the competition is so far behind it's sad actually.Flex Lewis same, they both are going to keep getting the the Mr.O with the competition they have up against them both.

Flex Lewis 12 weeks out! Completely Insane!

Allex that teaches me ...

He has the genetics to look like a Mr O via training like a lady where as I need to keep bursting my balls to put on muscle and just carry on with what I am doing.

So it teaches me nothing lol

Best answer^^^

First of all, everyone is making a lot of assumptions that he doesn't train hard. We don't really know. I'm sure he goes hard when he works with Hany Rambod.

However, if he doesn't train that hard, then that is the perfect way for him to train. It's just enough to keep him injury free and win the Mr. Olympia contest every single year. He SHOULDN'T try to start training harder or anything like that. He needs to keep up what he's doing. Even if another guy comes in better, Phil will still win due to politics.

Doesn't really matter how he trains, whatever he's doing is working for him and he's mr Olympia..

I absolutely agree with you. Just need to stimulate the muscle so it grows
