Cutting/Dieting and Training. Do you change your training when on a cut?

I am curious as to if any of you make large changes to your training when cutting.

Are you a "dance with the one you brought" or do you change things up? I know that BigA posted that 2x days are ideal, but I would love to hear other's insights into this.

If you do change your training, why?

I scale back my volume slightly when cutting

Less food and nutrients generally hinders ability to recover between workouts. Other than that I pretty much keep my split the same

This is pretty much exactly how my coach has me approach it:

We keep my main split the same during a cut to hold onto strength and muscle. The only real adjustment is pulling back slightly on volume — dropping a set here or there if recovery isn’t keeping up. Still keep intensity high.

The diet handles the fat loss — training is just sending the signal to preserve muscle.
💪

Exactly the same.

The only thing I change is the overall volume and that’s like under 6 weeks out. Intensity still high, just less total sets to true failure. I’m literally in that phase right now. Leg workout was about 40 mins. Couple warm ups, 1-2 hard sets, move on.

Set extenders will start to come out as calories come down. I usually train with rep ranges a little higher in the off-season (10-15), and then will lower the reps a bit during prep (around 8-12). Volume gets lowered as needed. I'll sometimes have to move things around a little bit to fit in all the cardio, but the general structure stays the same.

Same shit, different day.
Train hard....don't get injured.

I do not change training, not intentionally. Clearly when you are deep into a deficit the amount of volume/weight you can handle with go down by a certain amount. I just focus on pushing as hard as I can regardless of cut or bulk.

I always trained the same especially when i was on gear. My strength may change the farther into a cut i was but that was it.

didnt we just have a thread just like this a week ago?

dont change anything if its working and giving you the results you want. If you notice you cant perform or recover, decrease your training.

But bruh, dont you have to increase volume and decrease weight when you are cutting? 🤣🤣

I don’t change much. Just a slight decrease in volume. I might reduce workout frequency from a 5/6 day split down to 4 day split.

I don't intentionally do anything different and train as if Im trying to grow still instead of cutting. Im sure for my next phase my training will increase with increased macros, energy, surplus, gear.

When cutting - my first 3-4 sets are for performance with long rest between for a compound lift. Like bench deadlift squat:

Everything after that is high rep super short rest between sets.
